  • dd literally has the nickname "disk destroyer", and it is a well-earned title. Once you have a bad default choice and no pre-installed alternative, you'll have at minimum 3 competing tools. Just the way the world works.

  • Everyone has hated Adobe for several decades now, and they have only made more evil decisions since. Surely even if the Adobe offices are a little bubble of misinformation, everyone in that company must know they are extremely hated.

  • In my experience, if you didn't write the function that creates the list, there's a solid chance it could be None too, and if you try to check the length of None, you get an error. This is also why returning None when a function fails is bad practice IMO, but that doesn't seem to stop my coworkers.

  • Yes, the supreme court ruled that any "official act" of the president is legal, so unless the supreme court wants to either

    1. Undo that ruling, or
    2. Rule that this isn't an official act,

Then Trump is 100% in the clear.

  • Kind of crazy to me that governments aren't massively interested in hosting their own fediverse instances. It has huge appeal of providing announcements on a broader platform while also controlling your instance and still being from a .gov source.

  • All time high was right before the election at ~45k, and now it's around 40k, so about 11% down. Not sure where you came up with 30%, but it never even got close to that. A 30% drop would be around 31k, and the lowest it hit was around 37k. We all hate Trump, but don't just make up numbers for internet points.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - On Thursday, the Satanic Temple of Iowa announced that their display at the Iowa Capitol had been significantly damaged.

The controversial display, which Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds called “objectionable,” featured a ram’s head covered with mirrors on a mannequin before being damaged.

Organizers say it’s a symbol of their right to religious freedom.

The Satanic Temple of Iowa posted the following message on their Facebook page:

“This morning, we were informed by authorities that the Baphomet statue in our holiday display was destroyed beyond repair. We are proud to continue our holiday display for the next few days that we have been allotted.

We ask that for safety, visitors travel together and use the 7 Tenets as a reminder for empathy, in the knowledge that justice is being pursued the correct way, through legal means.
