  • I did injections. 6*$400/each = $2400

I did it at the behest of my SO and went into it with precisely zero expectations of it working – too many years of trying every available legal/illegal, scientific/unscientific option available, all to no avail.

The half-life is like 20 minutes, so at about 30 minutes they come and hit you with a second dose. That hour is truly fantastic. But it didn’t seem to alleviate my lifelong depression, and I had even told people it wasn’t worth it. But about two months after the last dose I realized I was feeling better. A couple of years on, I have continued to feel better and better over time. I mean, the world is going to shit, and although I’m aware of it, it’s more in the periphery rather than front and center. I actually feel pretty great for the first time in a decade.

There’s no doubt the pharmaceutical companies are ripping everyone off, as they are wont to do. But if it works and you are privileged enough to have the means, it can be a life-changing solution to a life-ruining condition.

That said, I have no idea how effective the nasal spray would be or how it might differ.

  • I’m torn.

Obviously taking advantage of cheap, desperate labor to maximize profit is wrong.

On the other hand, the whole thing feels like a deliberate act by the ruling class to turn the working class against each other. I’m hesitant to hate on farmers when billionaires are also suppressing wages so harshly all of society.

  • This is an insightful comment. Just to add, once you allow contributors to the project, you add a whole other set of tasks that have to be performed. You have to become a project manager, and your mental model of the project becomes disrupted due to changes made by other people. I can fully sympathize with wanting to build an MVP before sharing.

Side note: I have no idea who this person is or what his history is. I’m just adding my opinion based on personal experience.

  • Left side of my bed collapsed while mid-coitus (cheap MDF bed, not raucous sex). Missionary, so we just rolled softly off the mattress and onto the floor. Paused briefly as we both processed what had just happened, then laughed and continued.

  • Damnit Joe! You could have at least waited for the December 16 sentencing. As a first time offender he might have gotten off with a slap on the wrist (depending on the judge) and you wouldn’t look like such a hypocrite for letting him just be sentenced. By acting preemptively, you’re just sending the signal that it doesn’t matter what crimes were committed, he won’t be held accountable. If you’re going to stand on principle for four years, doing nothing to ensure Trump faces consequences, why throw it away at the very end. What a clusterfuck our political system has become.

  • It really depends on what you use your laptop for. My 2013 MBP lasted 9 years and was how I got my work done. That comes out to 76¢ per day, and I make a fair bit more than that per hour.

But if you’re looking for a personal computer to surf the internet, yes, that could be cost prohibitive. But then it also matters less what device you buy.

As for ports, I’ve never needed a dongle on the 2013 model. I did need one for a USB A drive on the newest model, but this little thing has solved that problem easily. I didn’t even have to buy that since my monitor has USB A ports – I was just too lazy to reach around the back to use it every time. I’m not sure I understand all the complaints about the occasional need for a dongle.

  • I returned to my hometown to handle the passing of my grandfather. I didn’t call my friend, who I had known since preschool, to go hang out. In reality I didn’t give a single thought to contacting anyone I knew – I had family to take care of. He felt insulted by that and chose to never speak to me again.

If this sounds completely illogical, I can assure you I’m just as baffled as you.

  • One more aspect to nuclear power is its vulnerability to destructive forces, whether that be natural disasters or acts of war via either cyber attacks or direct bombing.

Given the abundance of safer alternatives, I don’t see why anyone would accept the risk associated with nuclear reactors.
