Realm of the Elderlings is my favorite series of all time and its written by a woman, but every other book series ive read that ive liked has been written by a man. Not sure how to describe how most books I tried written by woman in the past felt other than the audience not feeling like me. Realm of the elderlings I never had this issue, I enjoyed following the female protoganists and the fool even if I dont identify with how they feel, so I think its not necessarily the main character being a male for half the series being why I like it.

I just typically dont like men written by woman like woman rightfully dont like woman written by most male authors, since it tends to be done poorlly. Looking for series/authors that do a good job of representing both genders and writing for them, not misrepresenting either or acting like its the only thing that defines them and all their actions.

Like when they dream they are somehow tapping into another reality and seeing lives play out, the they are reframing and writing it as stories to sell.

Some examples of series that made me feel this way are the Realm of the Elderlings, gentleman bastards, red rising and the Kingkiller Chronicles (tho this one is framed that way on purpose kind of with the unreliable narrator and book within a book vibe)

Sometimes series will give me this vibe for the first book or two but then lose it, as if they no longer dream of that reality and are now just making stuff up without real context. Lightbringer and the warded man series felt like that.

Its like a book/tvshow club app where you can make groups to read books together and discuss them, see what others are reading, etc. would be cool for an app like that to encompass comics, manga, etc. as well. Seems perfect for the fediverse and they have some annoying monetization starting to show signs of ruining their app. (Fable Plus)

I like the idea, threads are solid for new shows but rough for discussing older media, the whole online club gets you on the same page reading and discussing the same things.

Ik bookwyrm already exists but thats a tracker and this app seems to fulfil a different niche.

I never got the whole oversexualized angle when it comed to most comic book appearences, they look very tame compared to rave or even gym outfits meant for mobility, do superheroes not need mobility?

I sometimes write stuff off because of cover art being too horny, and with comic books unlike manga and stuff that seems to be a mistake. I really like how they do the mad god dad concept (like trigon) and I always enjoy hybrid babies for whatever reason. It has transformation, isekai, mythology, etc. The mc is powerful because of their sense of self and thats why their evil god dad respects them, I liked that, it felt earned. think it was cool that they chose not to kill their dad so the annoying time onlmnicisent powers don't pass to them and instead try to get someone else to kill him/ get the final blow and take their place.

I feel like it somehow does a lot of typically overpowered concepts in an entertaining way and has a ton of variety. Bout to dive into the chaos universe and hope the rest is as entertaining as nyx.

I really like public endorsements in forums, when the comment/post shows the names of ppl who like it, it lets me know if I can trust an opinion, especially if I've seen those names before, which is common here.

Instead of ppl commenting seconded or I agree, they could endorse a post to publically show their name next to a like/upvote. The inverse would also be nice as well, downvote/disagree and show your username, both would be helpful information, becoming more valuable overtime.

I'm not very good at blender yet, but I like seeing other ppls submissions and trying my hand at them. Think monthly/weekly contests are a good way to get more engagment here. I would not like to be in charge of holding them and just want to drum up interest lol.

Sometimes when I restart my computer ill click cachyos in refind and itll just keep restarting until eventually it boots when I click it, sometiems when I start my computer its in the cachyos bootflags editing screen? How do I reset my bootflags to whatever was default if I accidentally changed them. Once it eventually launches it runs fine, but I have to goto the lockscreen to shutdown.

Always thought private servers were fun for aqworlds, was wondering if there are any popular legal self hosted mmos. Mmos dont make much money and a lot of ppl developing them just want to play their dream games supposedly, wonder why no ones kickstarted or tried to groupfund an open source mmo, where the project cant die and any interested team could fork it or take over.

What would you reccomend/use for an alienware laptop m17r5 with amdcpu (idr) and gpu 6850mxt. Idc about adjusting the keyboard lights, I changed it once and never touched it again. I play games like cities skyline, noita, etc. and some vr stuff rarely like vtolvr and warthunder. I use blender and houdinifx.
I've seen PopOs reccomended for Blender users but I think thats because it comes with a lot of stuff you need for Nvidia, which isn't relevant to me with an all amd setup.

Cachyos seems to be the move for best performance with rendering and simulating, was wondering about other options I have since I dont need to worry about nvidia drivers.

I dont like the idea of using ubuntu because of snap packages, but its not a big deal.

While I like tinkering, I do want it to be relatively stable, not suprising me with issues when I need it.

Not really sure how dualbooting or vms work at their core. I'm kind of over windows and want to swap, always liked the customizability aspect and have been using Linux more and more for self hosting purposes. Was wondering if I setup linux on my external ssd using a vm if I could change it from vm to a dualboot drive after I'm done setting it up. That way I could setitup and swap to it while keepign my original ssd with my windows install,. and not have to deal with dualbooting and going back and forth while setting up?

Can I make a vm of my current windows machine backup and run that in a linux setup?

I started off using Voyager, swapped to Mlem because of slight differences I preferred. Recently found out Thunder for Lemmy is available on the apple appstore and it instantly became my favorite. I like how unique the ui is compared to other, it seems better suited for browsing and posting on Lemmy, while the others feel better for the initial transition from Reddit. Very suprised it has barely any downloads or reviews when its easily the best Lemmy app on IOS.

Thunder reminds me of the more "modern" alternative front ends for lemmy some sites have while mlem and voyager feel more like the alternative reddit apps (blue alien) and give a similar experience.

On desktop, I've been using Friendica.

It makes it easier to understand what this is and that they are interconnected, but I think I enjoy unique branding/themes more in practice now that I am actually using the fediverse.

I self hosted an instance at is.hardlywork.ing, my images are getting cropped and losing the top and bottom 25% of the the image, leaving me a zoomed in rectangle. I tried on web browser, phone app, etc. same issue uploading any 1920x1080 photo.
