Recent work comparing soldiers in combat to those on peacekeeping missions finds that when it comes to the psychological impact of taking a life, the context of the mission matters

Trump is crazy but I still think its possible it was a lab leak. But of course everyone here is 100% confident it wasnt, so no point trying to discuss it.
Kind of makes sense. Same mentality in China and Russia. And then we have Trump for the USA with similar mentality but hopefully temporary.
If not, Europe will be on its own against a world of insane so-called leaders.
No, unfortunately it doesnt. The scenes are more or less serious, so thats a bit sad, but its ok.
I bought it yesterday, its a modern command & conquer, worth buying if you like that sort of base building, resource gathering and massive fight kind of a game. :)
There hasnt been anything like it in decades so I like it a lot.
Soldiers in combat can kill without moral injury

I always like these articles that question the common mindset and teach us something.
Of course at the same time, my hope for humans goes down, but thats another story... :)
Primitive mindset, cave men politics.
Trump should be first in prison shouldnt he....
Stonks go up if profits exceed analyst expectations. The Ai stocks have pulled the entire market up the last year, even when ordinary people had much less money left and everything was much more expensive due to inflation.
I think probably it will continue to do that actually, since Ai is the new hype, and tons of startup companies are launching Ai products.
Most will fail of course but it still drives the profits for the cloud companies hosting the infra, or Nvidia and those who make the hardware.
Linkedin is seriously a frustrating place. People humble-bragging and virtue-signalling to their colleagues and future bosses makes me want to puke.
You have "certifications" where everyone who clicks through the material gets a certification. No effort required whatsoever. And these people act like they did something.
He can read?
Yeah. You dont "deal" with Putin.
His kind represents true evil.
Trump said he heard they made a mistake. Lols. And he is of course taking their word on that.
Quote from Trump aboard Air Force One: "I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it’s a horrible thing."
Doesnt matter that these so called leaders say. They lie and they are both mentally ill.
Money is very importent to Americans, not life quality appearently.
They are willing to work super hard to be "successful", take all kinds of mental torture to get there. But no time to enjoy family life, a walk in the forest, meditation, music.... Gotta make those dollars.
I think it looks very cool, and the ionic 5 was the most fun car ive ever driven. Its like a gocart. :)

Yep. You didnt choose to be that way, so make the best of the cards you got dealt.

Must be lonely if you dont feel any connection to other humans.
I guess its the very foundation of morals. Without empathy, I imagine other people just feel like they are obstacles to you getting what you want?
Feels dangerous to visit. I dont think there is any feeling of respect for human beings there. Anger and hate has taken over, and the feeling of everyone being part of the same human race doesnt exist in the mind of Trump.
Well ok. Buy when its high prices then. Just doesnt make sense to me, but if it feels better... :)
Probably everyone died to him first time. You dont know the game so well and he can kill you with one or two hits.
For shoes im not sure. They must have massive profits on those things.
Market will and should remain nervous because of Trump, since he is not right in the head.
You dont have to time it perfectly. Even if you bought at the top, the US stocks are much higher today then in the 1990s or 2000s.
Your Japan example looks bad but seems a bit chosen as the exception to the rule. If you pick 100 countries in the west, most of them probably have better development than Japan? I havent looked but thats what I would guess. And specially the US.
Now with Trump at the wheel, all bets are off and it could very well crash more. But still, these times its good to keep buying. History has shown it pays off very much almost always.
The American Age Is Over - by Jonathan V. Last
Emergency Triad: The United States commits imperial suicide.
No matter what happens, I believe the author is correct. Europe will not trust the US in a long time. Trump actually has managed to destroy the image of America in the entire world, in a few months.
Elon Musk wants to save Western civilization from empathy
Americans are still in the dark about the scope and scale of what Elon Musk is doing with DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, which is working to drastically shrink the size of government by aiming to cut $1 trillion or more in government spending.
"The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit,” Musk said. “There it’s they’re exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.”
Probably a lot of us are tired of Musks ramblings but I just thought this is clearly showing why he is so dangerous.
I think Musk may be more of a psychopath than Donald Trump, who is more of a narcissist but hopefully not a full blown maniac.
Its a crazy world right now
Dont forget that nothing bad lasts forever, and previous generations went through wars and hardships too.
It certainly feels like madness is in control of the US, but its just greed and lust for power and attention. There is no difference between the undeveloped child that is taking the entire sandbox and these people. Some humans desire nothing more than to take from others until there is nothing left. Maybe its part of their spiritual evolution.
Perhaps there something to learn from their behavior. We get reminded of how not to be towards others. They are a very clear example of souls that feels much more primitive than the animals we have around us.
This too shall pass. :)
Shows all the information Google gets from just one photograph, using Ai.
Located in a former bank downtown, the facility has had 300 people apply for its remaining 17 rental beds
This is not dystopian at all, is it? Humans sleeping in pods. I guess it beats homelessness but this seems like a fail on epical levels (unless profits for these pod companies are what we care about).

LG monitor asking about ad tracking preferences
It. Is. Never. Enough.
You paid hundreds of dollars for a new monitor, but it doesn't matter. More ads, more profits.
I hate it.
Alien Romulus
I just watched alien romulus and I thought it was really frustrating. What happened to the lethal face huggers and the older, experienced crew of spaceships that got paid like shit by the company?
Now they are hitting face huggers left and right with sticks, and people just get up after having one over their face.
I didn't feel like I cared about the characters. They were actually quite unlikeable. I really miss Ripley. She had enormous amount of character, strength and intelligence. What did we get in this movie? They are all super generic.
Just disappointed. How about you guys?
Kagi Snaps
This is not revolutionary but it saves some keystrokes when wanting to limit results to certain sites.
Personally I don't really limit anything with Kagi. It's usually just finding what I want without having to do anything.
Removing Windows Recall breaks File Explorer in latest 24H2 update - NotebookCheck.net News
I wish I was a billion dollar company who gets away with stuff like this. Just generally break people's systems, add spyware, lie to users, treat them like shit.
All while making even more money and my stocks keep on going up, because AI, Ai, Ai...
How is the calories meter on exercise bikes accurate
The bike knows my height and weight and that's about it. From that it can calculate how my body burns calories?
Every body is very different, so I don't see how any calculation can be accurate.
Hetzner launches s3-compatible object storage
I can't express how much I love hetzner doing this. There is a huge market for people who just need some instances and reliable/cheap object storage to run their apps.
Explain why the US bail system is not insane
If you have money, you can pay the bail and get released, while poor people can't.
I don't see why people with money should get benefits in the legal system?
Bosses are firing Gen Z grads just months after hiring them—here’s what they say needs to change
Here’s what they say needs to change.
Is gen z intentionally refusing to change their behavior for work, or what is the reason for this?
Kind of think it's cool that they remain themselves.
This will be a vote against competition.
Similar to America, Europe is also artificially trying to make consumers choose native cars, by making Chinese ones more expensive.

It's about debt on zombie office towers.
This article describes the real reason behind the push back to the office. It's about rich people gambling on real estate and now office buildings are empty.
These same people own newspapers and media channels which is why their crying voices are being pushed.
Do remote workers actually work? Yes, but they also shop and shower
Remote workers often brag about how productive they are at home, but a new survey sheds light on what they're really doing all day.
My favorite quote:
While employees in the office might kill time messaging friends or flipping through TikTok, remote workers take advantage of being far from the watchful gaze of bosses to chip away at personal to-do lists or to goof off.
Nearly half of remote workers multitask on work calls or complete household chores like unloading the dishwasher or doing a load of laundry, according to the SurveyMonkey poll of 3,117 full-time workers in the U.S.
Oh noes, people actually doing things that are useful for their families instead of even more computer time.
It's insane that this is even considered strange or surprising. When I work from home, I take longer lunch breaks and I often stop working earlier, but I'm still three times as productive compared to sitting in an office.
At home, I actually get focused time to do something and think. At the office, this is extreamly difficult with all the distractions and noise constantly interrupting my train of thought.
My Job Is to Train Tesla's Cars to Drive Themselves
A worker on Tesla's Autopilot team described what it's like labeling the influx of driver videos.
Some quotes from the article:
There is something very strange about having this very intimate view into someone's life. It feels odd to see someone's daily drive, but it's also an important part of correcting and refining the program.
We review about five and a half to six hours of footage per day. It can be very hard to focus. You can get in this kind of fog when you're just watching clip after clip and it can be difficult to keep yourself sane.
Anytime you're not clicking around in the software program, it tracks you as if you aren't working and it basically sets off an alarm to your superiors.
These jobs sound very dystopian to me, and a bit psychopathic as well. All the movies I watched growing up about dystopian societies is reflected in what this guy says about his job.
