Failing power button

My launch LCD Steam Deck is unfortunately now afflicted with a power button issue. It amounts to the power button being unresponsive ~9 times out of 10 (and getting worse). It has been reported on, but has no definitive fix as far as I can tell.
My fixes attempt so far have been:
- Squirt isopropyl alcohol (also contact cleaner later on) from the outside (suggested in [https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/vlv3px/psa_how_i_fixed_my_steam_decks_unresponsive_power/]) : no perceptible change.
- Open up the casing and try pushing the board back into a better position (as a proposed fix in [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123jykFjF50]) : felt like an improvement, but did not stick for very long.
- Mostly I have been working around the issue by using the wake on Bluetooth feature from the SteamOS preview channel and using a Switch Pro controller (because it's not BLE) or a headset. This has been pretty reliable but for obvious reasons this is not ideal (and also will not work after a

Trackmania / Ubisoft instant-script fails
****Hey! My gf wanted to try out Trackmania since I've been getting into it. However we can't get it to run on her steam deck at all.
For reference here's how I did it on my deck: Install trackmania from the store. On first launch it briefly says "running instant script: ubisoft connect" or similar. Then Ubi starts, i logged in, done. Now anytime I launch TM, ubi pops up briefly, takes care of things and runs the game.
However, on her deck, the instant script runs, then she's greeted with an old-school windows error box from TM informing her that it needs Ubi connect.
We've tried all kinds of trickey like installing Ubi as a non steam app, changing proton versions, changing the proton context, reinstalling, deleting compat data for a clean slate...
Most guides online are old enough to not mention the instant script.
If anyone has an idea of what might be going on, I'd greatly appreciate any pointers.

how does one interact with MCP servers without mcp-libraries?
im building som dum lil foss llm thingy for godot and now im interested in letting users implement their own MCP servers.
so like - okay, the model context protocol page says, that most servers use stdio for every interaction. So now - the request format can be seen here, its apparently a JSONrpc thing.
so - first thing i want to do is retrieving all the capabilities the server has.
i looked through all the tabs in the latest docs, but could not find the command for listing all the capabilities. so i installed some filesystem mcp server which runs well and tried this:
bash
PS C:\Users\praktikant> npx -y @modelc

Trouble shutting down a linux machine
I am having issues with my linux machine running openSUSE MicroOS. It runs fine but I can't power it off via SSH. I tried shutdown, poweroff and halt but no command turned the machine off. I then have to physically push the power button but I don't feel comfortable doing that too often because I might interrupt some processes which are still running? Is there something I could still try or something I did wrong?

go_router custom transition performance
I'm trying to implement the OpenContainer transition for go_router in Flutter. It seems like no matter what I do, the end result is choppy. :/
I'm using the native Transition widgets as well as the relatively new SnapshotWidget, but to no avail. Should I maybe use a custom painter? Would that improve performance?
Please take a look at the code below and let me know if you see any ways that I could improve performance.
Here's my attempt at an OpenContainer transition for go_router:

import 'package:flutter/material.dart'; import 'package:your_project_name_xxx/ui_models/container_transition_extra.dart'; class ContainerTransition extends StatefulWidget { final ContainerTransitionExtra extra; final Animation<double> animation; final Widget? sourceWidget; final Widget targetWidget; const ContainerTransition({ super.key, required this.extra, required this.animation, required this.sourceWidget, required this.targetWidget, }); @override State<C

Cheap SSDs for storage
Hi!
2 of my drives failed recently (as well as an external drive), plus my faithful HP Proliant Gen 8 is ripe for retirement (I'm small potatoes compared to you guys).
So I bought a mini-PC (with a N100). I'm considering going all SSDs.
What are the cheapest ones? They can be slow.
Is there a "storage SSD" category?
I've looked at OEMs but they're not that interesting, or I didn't know where to look.
Aliexpress is full of fakes. As is the second hand market. Or it's legit but as expensive as new.
Thanks for reading!

YouTube TV stopped working today, now redirects to normal YouTube
My setup for YouTube on the deck was adding my browser as a non-steam game and letting it open youtube.com/tv in kiosk mode. Worked great for a long time. Today it started giving me a message like "check your device's app store for the official app" and redirected me to default YouTube.
Anyone else got this problem? Any solutions?

LibreWolf not showing store cookies option

Hi all!
I'm new to NixOS and so far I'm loving it! I'm in the middle of the process of "nixifying" all my stuff, and I've found a problem that I've not been able to solve yet:
When using LibreWolf on my Mac OS laptop, I can easily add exceptions to store cookies from the padlock icon in the search bar, as you can see in the screenshot, so I don't have to re-login to some sites every time I open my browser.
The problem is that on my NixOS laptop there is not such an option. I have compared settings in both setups, and they both look the same. I even tried explicitly setting pref.privacy.disable_button.cookie_exceptions
to false
, but no luck. The option is still not showing in the padlock menu.
Here's my LibrefWolf config, in case you are curious.
I know I can manually add exceptions in the settings page, but doing it directly from the search bar is way more convenient.
I searched all aro

IPv4 address reaches website, but domain doesn't... (wrong community?)
Hello!!! <3
So i'm trying to host my own lil website server! I already got httpd
on my fedora (GNU/Linux) device, forwarded the 80
port to my router and - TADA I can access my simple index.html
site from anywhere now via the IPv4 address! I even tried it on my phone at work, and I was able to reach my home server!
I have now purchased some nice domain smorty.dev
rather cheaply on porkbun but - as you may find out when clicking on the link - it doesn't forward to my server yet ;(
I have already setup the A address record thingy on porkbun, which can even be verified by running ping smorty.dev
in the terminal, as it retrieves the current IPv4 address of my router

Bulk chmod when migrating from NTFS
At long last I'm finally switching operating system for my gaming PC. I have a lot of photos and such saved that have been moved from an NTFS drive. Is there any tool out there to help me fix the permissions of these files according to file type in bulk?

Does anyone know how to delete a 'Downloaded' controller config?
I had 3 configs I was testing for No Man's Sky, and since the last couple updates the community configs are broken. If I launch the game those configs come up as totally empty of assigned controls. I can switch to a Hello Games config and it works fine. I can't seem to find any way to delete a configuration once it's been downloaded. I was hoping that deleting and re-download would fix the issue.

Free Pixel 4a battery replacement?
So Google decided to swap out batteries for free on Pixel 4a phones. I have two of them running LineageOS without Google, but I'd really like some fresh batteries. But I don't know if Google will accept my phone. Did anyone already try to get the free replacement? How did you do it and how did it work?

cursor behaviour ff mobile
I use Fennec F-Droid (This does apply to normal ff mobile). When I hold the space key of the onscreen keyboard to control the cursor in a website's input field it doesn't move character by character but word by word. Is there a flag in about:config that changes it to go character by character instead? Their implementation is buggy and painful for me and the sole reason for why I feel forced to use Brave 😭 pls help

LMS to Lyrion migration in docker
I have LMS at its latest version (8.5.3) installed on a VM. I hadnàt updated for a while and so decided to do so. To my surprise, I learnt that Logitech Media Server is now called Lyrion Music Server. Has anyone migrated from one to the other in a non-painfull way? I did a quick search. There are some guides for Synology and QNAP servers but I was after a more generic guide for pure docker. Anyone come across any?

How do I post and store binary data correctly in Laravel?
I have the following migration:
(Schema::create('user_images',function(Blueprint $table){
$table->id();
$table->binary('image');
$table->unsignedBigInteger('user_id');
$table->foreign('user_id')->references('id')->on('users');
});)
And the following corresponding model:
`class UserImage extends Model { protected $fillable=[ 'image' ];
undefined
public function user():BelongsTo{ return $this->belongsTo(User::class); }
}`
I am trying to create new UserImage records with UserImage::create but it is always failing, I am sending the image data using curl:
curl -v -F image=@$1 $URL/api/users -H "Accept: application/json"
I have tried so many things but I got different SQL-related errors, I am not sure how am I supposed to encode the image data to get them stored, I know that accessing $request->image returns only a temporary path of the image on the HDD.

- Change the photo/media picker on Pixel 7?
Hey /c/android
I'd like to change the default media picker for my pixel 7, but I'm not sure how to do it. Right now, a lot of apps are getting me use Google Photos, which I think sucks. For instance, it won't show folders I've created using google gallery.
I like google Gallery better, but more and more apps are pushing me to use photos, and want something that's a bit more intuitive to use.
Are there third party apps I can use to do this, or a way to force my system to use just google gallery?
thanks a bunch

has anyone managed to run rocm on the deck?
I've been trying to install rocm on the deck following this guide
(https://old.reddit.com/r/SteamDeckTricks/comments/102xxww/guide_how_to_install_rocm_for_gpu_julia/)
with the only exception that i used a generic ubuntu container on podman instead of using distrobox; I reach to the point where i need to use amdgpu-install to run rocm, but when i do it tries to install 30gb of files; which unfortunately it's not feasible on my metered connection and storage (╥﹏╥). From what i saw from this issue on github there should be a way to select only the needed binaries for the specific chipset;
The question is, what should i do to install only the stuff necessary for the deck?
Sorry for the long post.
power and lock screen management
Hi.
I'm using Fedora KDE spin since last year, and have a need for the commands / a script to change power management and lock screen settings via the console (instead of manually going through the GUI). I tried googling the commands, but feel like I didn't even get into the right direction.
If anyone could point me into the correct direction, that'd be greatly appreciated. A ready solution is nice, but I'd also like to know how to find such things by myself in the future.
Sorry if I use the wrong terminology, I used Windows until switched last year.
