Review: Blount Italian Wedding Soup works for me!

I like this soup. I've tried several pre-made soups that were not worth comment (crab & corn, clam chowder, vegetable barley), but the Italian Wedding soup hit all the right notes for my pallet. I found the broth sufficiently chicken-y (rather than watery) and found the meatballs to be delightful.

I do prefer more vegetables in my soup, but adding extra spinach didn't improve it much for me. I did find that tossing in some leftover brussel sprouts that I'd tossed in olive oil and italian seasoning then roasted with and [romano cheese](https://sameday.costco

  • If you mean the dry-shelf instant noodle bowls, then yes. I think of those as an alternative to ramen noodles since they don't need refrigeration and cook in a similar manner. In both cases, there's no pretense of either having fresh ingredients or being anything like a complete dinner-style meal. I like instant ramen (especially with an egg and some greens in it) and I like the instant pho (also preferred with greens, but no egg).

While I expect dry instant noodles to be a minimal affair that one might opt to dress up, I thought the Pad Thai would be more of a complete meal -- and it is, but it didn't taste much like Pad Thai. I understand that bean sprouts are impossible to keep shelf-stable, but Snapdragon could have included little packets of peanuts and chill flakes to improve the meal.

How can I tell the difference between Capocolla, Mortadella and Prosciutto

Today I purchased Citterio Sliced Assorted Meat at Costco. This is my first time buying Italian Panini sliced assorted meats. Could anyone tell me that which is in my plate?

    • Sweet capocolla
    • Mortadella
    • Prosciutto cotto

    Thank you.

  • I miss the supreme.

If you miss the expanded pizza toppings offerings they used to have, write an email to [email protected]. Not only is he the head honcho, but he’s been through all levels of the company, including EVP of merchandising for a time so he has a unique perspective on what Costco’s customers (members) value.

    Here’s a template (AI gen’d, but it’s good.):

Subject: Request to Return Supreme Pizza to Costco Food Court

    Dear Mr. Vachris:

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing as a loyal Costco member to express my sincere request for the return of the Supreme (and other toppings selections) Pizza to the food court menu across all Costco locations.

The Supreme Pizza has been a favorite for many members, including myself, due to its delicious taste and variety of toppings. Its absence has been greatly missed, and I believe reintroducing it would be highly appreciated by a significant number of members.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to the possibility of enjoying Supreme Pizza at Costco again soon.

    Best regards,

The membership increase, set for September 1, 2024, will impact around 52 million memberships, a little over half of which are on the “Executive” plan.

The annual US and Canada “Gold Star” memberships, Business and Business add-on members will see fees increase by $5. The annual fee for a “Gold Star” member currently sits at $60 plus sales tax, Costco said in an announcement this week.

Higher-tier “Executive” members in the US and Canada will see annual fees increase from $120 to $130. The maximum annual 2 percent reward, associated with the Executive tier, will increase from $1,000 to $1,250.

This is the first membership price hike Costco has announced in seven years.

“To clear up some recent media speculation, I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe,” Costco’s new chief financial officer, Gary Millerchip, said in May.

"I came to [Sinegal] once, and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you r

  • Good Unite Us says those numbers are based on donations of the organization or senior employees. I don't know what they consider senior employees, but OpenSecrets has a full breakdown of what individuals affiliated with Costco donated and to whom. Democrats get way higher average contributions, so I'm assuming a lot of that is coming from people higher on the org chart who can afford to donate that much to a campaign. A lot of people donated smaller amounts to Trump, though.

  • The front 3 are the open ones and they are each a different year release and taste very different. We were doing a little blind tasting.

  • I found an article about this.

You're going to have to double check you have your ID on you before making a Costco run from now on. The superstore already requires customers to show their membership cards at the register, but a new policy is geared toward a Costco weak spot: the self-checkout kiosks.

With self checkout expanding quickly throughout stores since 2019, the company has seen a rise in shoppers passing their membership cards to friends or family to use for their own hauls. To prevent this misconduct, Costco has said members will now need to show their card to an employee when going through the self-checkout line—and if your card doesn't have a picture, you may also need to show a photo ID.

“Costco is able to keep our prices as low as possible because our membership fees help offset our operational expenses,” reads a statement from a company spokesperson. “We don't feel it's right that non-members receive the same benefits and pricing as our members.”

On the heels of Netflix’s attempt to eliminate account sharing, this move is yet another example of companies enforcing rules to keep memberships from being abused. Costco has a membership base of more than 120 million, and it relies heavily on these fees—according to its 2022 annual fiscal report, they earned the retailer $4.2 billion in revenue.

A basic “gold star” membership costs $60 per year for one household. You can also choose from a “business” membership for the same price and an “executive” membership, which includes additional perks and savings, for $120 per year.

USA Today posted a query about the new policy in the “Costco Fans Midwest” Facebook group, and enthusiasts had mixed opinions: Some agree the crackdown is fair, but others feel that it’s bothersome to be asked to pull out their IDs at any point—in the checkout line and throughout the store. Ashely Dixon, a shopper from Illinois, commented that she was stopped four times during a recent trip.

“I’ve felt more and more like I’m doing something wrong each time I go,” Dixon told USA Today. “It's annoying to be hounded at every step while shopping.”

Regardless of the new policy, there's no need to give your card to someone so they can save money at Costco—there are lots of ways to share the shopping experience with non-members. In fact, the company encourages it, and even offers hints at how to shop for friends and family.

"The Costco membership card is non-transferable, but there are several ways to share the experience with family and friends,” the company’s customer service website says. “Anyone with a card can bring up to two guests to the Warehouse during each visit. Keep in mind that purchasing items is exclusive to Costco members."

That last sentence is the key to following the rules of your membership: If your bestie wants to split 24-pack of Kirkland Signature seltzers or a giant bag of avocados, bring them along for the shopping trip and let them pay you (or treat you to the $1.50 food court hot dog combo) afterward. Quality time and good deals—it’s the best of both worlds.

    Business Centre Experience 2023-June

I was very interested in the differences between Business Centre and Warehouses, and I had a chance to visit a nearby Business Centre a few weeks ago. I'd like to share some of my impressions about it.

    1. Bigger than warehouse, more SKUs. There is no Coca Cola Zero in all the Costco Warehouses I've visited, but I could find them in Business Centre. There are also more electronics to choose, like fan at various size.
    2. Choosing meat is so cool (literally) The meat is put on open shelves in a room with low temperature (like diary room). After making my selection, I had to rush out of it
    3. No gas station, No food court But their is still rotisserie chicken at 7.99! Sadly that my family doesn't like that.
    4. The location is okay for me. Luckily, this Business Centre is not that far away from my home. Depending on the traffic, it cost me about 40 minute for one-way driving.

TLDR There is not significant difference between Business Centre and Warehouse, as I had expected before
