Academy of St. Martin in the Fields - Mozart - Serenade No. 10 for Winds (Gran Partita) K.361 (3rd mvt, Neville Marriner)

Soundtrack from "Amadeus"

“On the page it looked nothing. The beginning simple, almost comic. Just a pulse – bassoons and basset horns – like a rusty squeezebox. Then suddenly – high above it – an oboe, a single note, hanging there unwavering, till a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I’d never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing, it had me trembling. It seemed to me that I was hearing the very voice of God.”

Source: YouTube: The character Salieri described Mozart's music as the voice of god. Won multiple awards for this role.

You knew that this was coming. Sounds way over the top, but pretty much describes all these beautiful and magical music.

Comment:

My favorite performance of this piece. I guess old age isn't an obstacle for a pianist. RIP, Mr. Horowitz. You'll always be in my heart.
