Fionn is a freelance filmmaker who began volunteering with Refugee Rescue on the coast of Lesvos in 2017. Listening first hand to the stories of displaced people sparked a seven year commitment to documenting life inside refugee camps across Greece and preserving the stories of those forced from their homes.

He was with Palestinian friends when he heard that Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh had been killed by Israeli forces, a moment that sharpened his awareness of the dangers faced by those who bear witness, and the profound responsibility that comes with telling stories under occupation.

Fionn grew up on a 100 year old Dutch sailing barge on a river and lake in the Northwest of Ireland, where his deep connection to boats and water grew. In winter, he works alongside his uncle building and repairing boats, In summer, he skippers a tour boat on his local waterway.

When he heard about the 2025 flotilla, joining felt like a natural extension of both his maritime life and his solidarity work. He says, “We cannot stand by and continue watching as the genocide is occurring against the Palestinian people. Each of us has a role to play. We must act even when that means facing danger along the way, if our positions were reversed tomorrow, The Palestinians would be there for us.
