Requesting Help

Alva:

Sorry to bother everyone on the Elmo. There’s something I’d like to ask for help with. This is purely a personal matter… I like cats, but because of the nature of my duties, I’ve never really had the chance to look after a kitten.

However, something unexpected has happened—a cat has appeared by my side. May I ask if anyone on the Elmo has experience caring for cats?

About the New Environment and Food

Alva:

From what I observed, this orange cat that appeared on the Elmo probably wandered out from a nearby residential area. That day, I happened to have some cat treats, and she ended up following me back to my room.

She likes curling up on me and purring, and she also enjoys hiding in corners and drawers. I'm thinking about how to make a little nest for her. I wonder if she'll like it?

By the way, apart from the treats I gave her on the first day, she hasn't really eaten the canned food or kibble I prepared afterward. Did I buy the wrong things?

Sharkry:

Here I am! Sharkry can help you~ Don't worry, this is a typical process for kittens adjusting to a new environment. Even if she really likes you, your room is completely new to her, so it's normal for her to hide and be reluctant to eat or drink out of fear.

Sharkry’s Suggestions

Give her a place where she can hide, like a cardboard box with an opening or a storage container—anything that provides a sense of shelter. Add a thin blanket, and you've got an ideal little nest!

Alva:

Thank you, Miss Sharkry. I will record your advice in my journal. I'll make a proper little nest for the kitten.

Springfield:

Sharkry is right~ Kittens still need some time to adjust to their new environment. Also, a reminder for Miss Alva: kittens shouldn't eat canned food. And don't feed kibble and canned food at the same time, as it can upset their digestion. It's better to feed cat food at set times in measured amounts, gradually increasing the portion as time goes on.

For water, it's recommended to use purified or boiled water, which can reduce the chance of illness. This is the advice from Miss Mayling. I hope it's helpful to you~

Alva: I see, I understand now. Thank you, Miss Springfield and Miss Mayling, that's really good advice.

Springfield:

You're welcome~ For kitten check-ups, you can reach out to Centaureissi.

Centaureissi:

Good afternoon, Miss Alva. You can contact me anytime for a kitten check-up or nest cleaning. Your care and kindness will be well-rewarded. I am always at your service.

Alva:

Thank you, Miss Centaureissi. I was just about to ask about the kitten's vaccinations. I'll bring her over a little later.

Centaureissi:

I'm sure the Commander would be very happy to know she's found a good home.

Makiatto:

By the way, now that you've decided to adopt her, you really have to take responsibility. It's not just a spur-of-the-moment thing. Her lifespan is much shorter than a human's.

When she purrs for you, it means she trusts and likes you. To her, you are her whole world. Remember to spend plenty of time with her. It helps her burn off energy so she won't scratch around... and it's also part of taking responsibility for her.

Of course. I mean, if... you really can't take care of her anymore, remember to come to me... I'll take care of her with the Commander.

Alva:

I understand. I'll make sure to take good care of her. Thank you, Miss Makiatto.

Alva:

By the way, I still haven't decided on a name for the kitten... Commander, could you help me think of one?

Commander:

Since she's already your cat, Alva, I feel naming her is something you should really do yourself. But if you really can't think of anything, I can give some suggestions.

Generally, it's best not to make a cat's name too complicated, otherwise it can be hard for them to recognize it. I've seen people choose simple, cute-sounding words for their cats' names, like 'Frosting', 'Spotty', 'Snowball'...

Some people also like to name their pets after characters they love, usually from fiction, though sometimes even friends' names are used.

Alva:

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll think it over.
