Just wanted to post that I have BotW running on Cemu for Android on my RP5. By running it, I mean it hovers around 15-20 FPS, playable but not jaw dropping performance.
I have left the Great Plateau, and am closing in on Kakariko, having gotten the Shekiah Tower by Dualing Peaks, and several shrines along the way. We'll see how it does when I get to Kakariko, since that seems to be a difficult spot for hardware to run, even on my switch I noticed frame drops when entering. Maybe I'll do a screen recording and post it for Ss&Gs
When I first started trying to play BotW, Cemu would crash inside the shrine of resurrection, so this is a marker improvement. I have done no tweaking, just waiting for Cemu updates to drop.
Anyway, thanks for reading. Also, I'm posting stuff in the hopes of keeping this community having new content (even if my content isn't very good).
When it comes to handheld gaming, you could drown in the number of options to choose from. The best way to narrow things down is to consider what you’re looking for out of a handheld. Do you want something palm-sized that can easily slip into a front pocket? Or are you cool with something larger that can be tossed in a bag, while still being viable for daily use? It’s fair to say that the ROG Ally, for example, is not exactly something you want to lug around constantly, but its raw power makes up for tho
Just wanted to say that Shantae works very very well in Cemu for Android, if you are a fan of that series.
One of the things I've enjoyed about having an RP5, is being able to play the games I either didn't know about as a kid, or that I never would have bought (either because I knew my parents wouldn't get it for me, or would throw a fit if I bought it)
Shantae is one of those game. I've been enjoying playing it. Maybe should have started with the GBA version, but I gave the WiiU version a try. Lots of fun!
I haven't seen much regarding Vita3K functionality on the RP5, so I was wondering if anyone has had stuttering issues with Vita3K on the RP5? Is it just a driver issue I need to play around with? Or maybe Vita3K just isn't all that ready for prime time, or the RP5 isn't just able to handle Vita emulation?
[…] the Retroid Pocket Classic has been introduced. This will mark the first vertical handheld that Retroid has released since the original Pocket back in 2020.
Coming as little surprise, Retroid didn’t share anything regarding specs, but it did share all seven colors that the Classic will come in. Front and center is yellow, featuring a deep purple D-pad, and while the X+Y buttons match the rest of the shell, the A+B buttons are green and red, respectively.
As for the rest of the colors, we’ll have a DMG colorway, transparent purple, pink, teal, lime green, and what appears to be a lighter version of what the DMG has. From there, the Pocket Classic sports a front-firing speaker, to go along with the Start, Select, and Menu buttons. Curiously enough, none of those three buttons are actually centered, and we don’t have any idea why this would be the
A while ago I got a Retroid Pocket 3+, but as I didn't end up using it much, I recently reconfigured it to give to someone who could make better use of it.
As the joysticks aren't ideal for games that make substantial use of them, I also gave them a 8BitDo controller to use as an alternative control option, oddly listed as being a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller in the Bluetooth menu. After they told me that the controller didn't work with the games I had installed on the device—twelve native Android games with controller support and several emulated games accessed via Daijisho—I realized that I'd have to dual map the Player 1 controller port in emulators to both the Retroid and the 8BitDo controllers.
Unless I'm mistaken, RetroArch doesn't appear to support dual-mapping controllers to the same player slot, so I only have the dual-mapping set up so far for standalone emulators that support that functionality. Testing indicated that such emulators include AetherSX2 for PS2, DuckStation
GoRetroid, known for their line of retro gaming handhelds like the Retroid Pocket and mini consoles, has once again impressed fans by revealing a new entry to its lineup—the Retroid Pocket 5. This device boasts a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, which marks it as an improvement over its predecessors, particularly the Retroid Pocket 4 series that featured a smaller and less vibrant IPS screen.
The new handheld's features also include a 1080p resolution and feature a modern ergonomic design. The AMOLED technology ensures deep blacks and excellent contrast ratios.
What do you think of the design? How do you think this device will compare to other retro-gaming handhelds on the market?
GoRetroid Announces The Retroid Pocket Mini | Time Extension
GoRetroid recently unveiled its latest handheld, the Retroid Pocket Mini, in an intriguing teaser video. While the announcement doesn't provide extensive details on specs, price, or release date, it does give us a glimpse of what we can expect from this new device.
Design: The Retroid Pocket Mini promises to be significantly smaller than its predecessors but retains some characteristics like dual-LED joysticks, D-pad positioned on the upper left, and face buttons (X,Y,B,A) on the right. It features stacked shoulder buttons, a 4:3 screen, and three inputs for charging, headphones, and SD cards.
Potential Release: Given GoRetroid’s history of teasing details slowly, we might see more information in the near future about this device which is poised to bring nostalgic gaming experiences into a compact form factor.
