Blizzard teased two “new IP collabs” for Diablo 4 back on April 8, and it didn’t long for them to reveal the first: A crossover with legendary manga series Berserk.
Details on the collaboration are scarce, but the announcement video is evocative as hell. It opens with a shot of Berserk’s foreboding and narrative-shifting eclipse before panning to the action taking place below. Diablo’s Barbarian, decked out in Berserk protagonist Guts’ jagged armor and massive Dragon Slayer great sword, cuts down a horde of lesser demons, their red blood exaggerated against the blackness of the moon’s shadow. ‘What’s a bad miracle? They got a word for that?’
Ryan Coogler, the Academy Award-nominated director of Creed and Black Panther, hasn’t been shy at all about citing the various inspirations behind his new horror thriller Sinners. In the weeks leading up to the film’s premiere, Coogler has been making the rounds along the press circuit, drumming up excitement and talking at length about the creative process behind his latest original feature. “It’s a genre-fluid film,” Coogler told SciFiNow in January. “There are vampires in the film,
“It’s a proper skill; it should cost a fortune, because it’s a proper labor of love.”
When Polygon had a chance to video-chat with Doctor Who stars Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu in advance of the new season, there was an experience that leapt out as their favorite: filming the animated sequences for this Saturday’s episode.
Not recording — filming.
“Shooting the animation was very fun,” Gatwa said, “because it was just a different way of working, and we’ve not had that.”
“I think when we first read it,” Sethu added, “we assumed that we’d be doing a voice-over much later on and they wer
Selling a fantasy that may or may not represent what’s inside the box
Go back 30 or 40 years, and video game cover art had some clear issues. It didn’t always follow precise style guides. It was frequently made in a vacuum by someone who had no idea what the game looked like. It relied on limited concept art, data, and technology. And it often sold a fantasy that didn’t accurately represent the game inside the box.
Yet the lack of those things led to thousands of amazing illustrations that we’d never have gotten otherwise, with many sticking in players’ heads as strongly as the games themselves. And last year, Bitmap Books released The Art of the Box, collecting more than 350 of them. The 564-page book spotl
Star Wars Zero Company, a turn-based game set right after the Clone Wars, gets full reveal
A former Firaxis developer is leading the team
Star Wars Zero Company, which one might colloquially refer to as “the XCOM Star Wars game,” got a full reveal today at a panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan. As for why one might refer to the game in that way, it’s because Greg Foertsch — the CEO and Creative Director of Bit Reactor, which is the studio making the game — previously worked on multiple major turn-based games at Firaxis, including the XCOM franchise.
“Our vision for Star Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Warsgalaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay,” said Foertsch, according to a press release sent to Polygon. “It’s our aim to deliver a game with an origi
A deal that’s a critical hit
Baldur’s Gate 3 recently received its final major patch, adding features like cross-play, photo mode, and new subclasses in addition to myriad bug fixes. While there may be future updates to address undiscovered bugs, Larian Studios has capped off its support for Baldur’s Gate 3 in spectacular fashion. To mark the occasion, Steam and GOG have discounted copies of Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC to just $47.99 (was $59.99), while the [Xbox](https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/baldurs-gate-3/9ND58LQT

Here’s which of Pratchett’s bestselling fantasy books are coming first, and where to find them
An announcement at TerryPratchett.com revealed today that the estate of the late fantasy author, one of the UK’s all-time bestselling writers, is opening up the “Discworld graphic novel universe,” a planned series of comics adaptations of Pratchett’s Discworld books that will come from different publishers, writers, and artists. Pratchett’s Discworld setting was the basis for more than 40 fantasy novels, ranging from light comedy and genre satire, to YA coming-of-age books, to deeply humanistic, dark horror stories. The first three books announced for graphic-novel adaptation cover a representative range of his work.

“Ultimately, 2025 promises to be a remarkable year for fans of Oblivion.”
The folks behind Skyblivion, a fan project focused on porting The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion to the Skyrim engine, will continue development in the face of continued rumors about an Oblivion remaster supervised by Bethesda itself.
“We are on track for our planned release later this year,” the Skyblivion team said on Bluesky. “The prospect of an official remaster is exciting. Players will be the true winners, having the opportunity to experience both a community-driven reimagining and a professional version of Oblivion.”

Blue Prince’s Steam players are surprisingly committed
One more room
The results are in: A lot of us really like Blue Prince. The game about solving puzzles in an ever-shifting manor takes a bit to get going, but once you’re in, you’re in. Data from Steam players — where the game seems to be the most popular — backs this up, according to a LinkedIn post by Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott.
While we won’t know official numbers, Elliott says Blue Prince sales on PlayStation and Xbox are “very low right now,” but that almost 150,000 people have played it. Elliott suspects the low sales ste
Stock is still available to order, but staff has been laid off
Renowned board game maker and publisher Greater Than Games has laid off staff and suspended operations, it announced Thursday, due to the impact of President Trump’s 145% tariff rate on goods imported from China.
The board game industry relies heavily on manufacturing from China. The tariffs have sent the tabletop industry into a major panic, and the impacts of the levies are already here. While Cephalofair Games has its Gloomhaven: Second Edition [stock effectively stuck overseas due to t

Shinichirō Watanabe has never done something quite like Lazarus before.
Sure, the 59-year-old anime director of Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, and more isn’t new to science fiction, nor is he a stranger to suspense thrillers like Terror in Resonance. But a globe-trotting, sci-fi spy thriller about a secret task force assigned to apprehend a brilliant scientist before he kills off all of humanity? That’s a new one, and from the sound of it, that’s just the way Watanabe likes it. “I would’ve done [more Bebop] if it felt right,” Watanabe [told Polygon last year](https://www.polygon.com/preview/467590/lazarus-anime-sh
LinkedIn has fun games on it and I’m not making that up
Hear me out: LinkedIn actually has fun games on it. I’m not joking. There are games buried underneath all the posts from CEOs disrupting industries through the power of AI, and they’re actually kind of good.
My favorite is Zip, a game about filling up a grid with a continuous line. It’s a daily puzzle, like Wordle, where each day you have to fill a grid by connecting a series of numbers in order. You can’t leave any gaps, so you need to plan out how many detours you need to make to cover the whole thing. It honestly is more complicated to describe than to actually play it, but trust me, it’s really satisfying.
My second favorite is Queens because it’s like Sudoku without th
The increases range from $1 to $10
Nintendo announced that it’s opening pre-orders for its Nintendo Switch 2 console on April 24 following a brief delay caused by U.S. tariff uncertainty. The console itself and games Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Banzana remain at the originally announced prices. However, accessories have increased by about $1 to $10 each.
“Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions,” Nintendo said in a statement [published on
Star Wars Outlaws demo arrives well after launch, ahead of Switch 2 debut
Demo now available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox
Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world action game from Massive Entertainment, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 4, publisher Ubisoft announced Friday.
A Switch 2 port of this graphically intensive game — ray-traced lighting is a foundational element of its look on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC — will be an important feather in the console’s cap. It’s another sign that Nintendo is determined to establish the Switch 2 as a home for ports of AAA third-party games, which took a while to come to the original Nintendo Switch because of its underpowered hardware.

The Game of Thrones author writes more than great fantasy stories
Vampires never really leave the cultural conversation, but not since the heyday of Twilight have they felt quite so back as they do right now. Between last year’s excellent Nosferatu and this year starting out hot with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, it seems like everyone has the Children of the Night on their minds. The only problem, however, is that there probably aren’t quite enough new vampire movies and TV shows coming out right now to keep your bloodlust satisfied. I
The console price is also staying the same
Nintendo announced Friday via an update to its website that Nintendo Switch 2 games Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will sell for the originally announced prices of $79.99 and $69.99 respectively, including both the physical and digital versions of the titles. Lucasfilm is in production on a new solo animated series for the Star Wars villain you absolutely cannot keep down: Darth Maul. Despite him having been killed on screen by Obi-Wan Kenobi twice over, Darth Maul will anchor the newly announced series Maul: Shadow Lord.
The Star Wars studio revealed the news in Friday’s Lucasfilm Animation’s 20th Anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025, in which Director Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm’s vice president of animation, Athena Portillo, treated the crowd to a whole trailer for Maul: Shadow Lord. Per Variety, the series takes place “about a year” after the events of the finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which Maul trie
One generation passes the torch to the next
On Friday, Future Boy Conan finally comes to streaming on Retrocrush. Anime enthusiasts will recognize the series for being Hayao Miyazaki’s directorial debut, premiering one year before his first theatrical film, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, and several more years before he founded Studio Ghibli with Toshio Suzuki and Isao Takahata. The 26-episode anime was released on Blu-ray in the U.S. in 2021, but this marks the first time it’s
