Hey guys, Just needing to vent really, but advice and tips are always welcome. I'm 30, F, and finding the dating scene rather tough having been single for over a year. I have a decent job, hobbies I regularly enjoy, and would love to find a special person to share life with. I'm very content otherwise, and make sure to look after myself and keep social with friends. I work from home, so my chances of meeting someone IRL is slim, hence trying dating apps (Hinge and Tinder), but finding a lot of men are only interested in short term flings. Seriously considering moving back to the city to see if that'll help my chances, perhaps Taupo is too small. 😅 Thank you for listening, this is a bit e

My original post here.
Thank you to everyone who chimed in (pro and against) to my original post about the rage I feel towards inconsiderate people at supermarkets. I guess we can mostly agree that people are in their own worlds, and maybe not necessarily being outright inconsiderate.
I have dabbled in a bit of exposure therapy since my post, with an open mind, and...it's been pleasant? I've tried to ignore the inconsiderate, and also kept telling myself that they might be having a bad day or a rough time, and it hasn't gotten to me like it used to. I have even cau

As a Kiwi rail fan, I've been dreaming of a country where New Zealand has a proper, modern passenger rail network again like the UK — something that connects regions, boosts tourism, and gives us another choice beyond cars, buses, and planes. Here's my concept for a revived passenger rail map running on diesel-powered trains (no expensive electrification required).

It's a rough employment market and I thought this post might provide some comfort to a few people. I spent 5 months looking for a job and started up about 6 months ago. I have a master's degree and some prior experience.
In the six months that I've been working, I've witnessed multiple hiring cycles and I have been consistently appalled how unrealistic the requirements are. For example my current role is basically glorified data entry and admin. I am quite overqualified for the role in my opinion. I genuinely believe that almost anyone (with average or slightly above average intelligence, and a genuine interest in learning) could do this job. Despite this, the requirem

NCEA exams are slowly moving to be more online, and yet I’ve observed among my peers and younger siblings that a LOT of students can’t type properly - I’m talking using-two-index-fingers kind of bad. And no, people don’t learn on their own. They develop poor technique that they keep forever.
We’re really doing NZ school kids a disservice by not giving them the skills to match the tools we expect them to use.

I was made redundant last week! I’m an IT professional with over 20 years of experience - Delivery/Project lead in the recent years, but have been a developer (.NET, C#) earlier.
I’m hearing that the market is slowly bouncing back, but these two weeks being short, don’t think will make any progress. Hoping to find something soon! Any thoughts and experience from the people who made it through this tough journey.

Got a bag earlier in the week, and just opened them hoping not to break my teeth.
Total of 27, 14 of which were coconut!
On the bag it says that there is no guarantee that there isn’t every flavour, but more than 50% one flavour is just shit - thus the shitpost.
New Zealand! What is you favourite and less favourite?
What is your trick to getting the ideal bag for yourself? Checking through the window?
My favourite is mint, malt was my least, but now it’s coconut!
