Are there projects that endorse minimalism?

Years before I encountered this meme today, I wondered if there are game projects that strive for maximum compatibility and minimalism. Something striving to the Doom's fame of running everywhere, but still developed now.

I know about simple logic puzzles and their ports, I know about mods like Tamriel Rebuilt for the 20+ years old engine, Q3 rewrites even in my distro's repository.

But do you know of someone who write new titles with that nomadic attitude to fit into pastpastpast-gen requirements and work on outdated software?

I'm thinking about getting a used notebook and I would totally install things I liked in the 90s, 00s, but I already played them and they don't have an active community anymore. Constant battery drain requires a simple game with small system reqs too.

And having a supported game that can run on a potato PC and have it's active forum or subreddit would be cool.

I'm looking for something between Rogue and UT99 (or even HL2). Or maybe I'm just really curious i

    Engine tools of choice

With the current Unity stink, I finally am making the move to get out (have wanted to for years anyways).

I was just interested to hear some experiences, thoughts and opinions on everyone's game engine/framework/etc of choice.

What are you working on right now?

What's the one thing you're procrastinating on right now? Maybe it's a texture, maybe it's an algorithm, or maybe it's a storyline.

    Alternative game development libraries

Aside from the big ones like Unity, Unreal, or Godot(!), what other smaller libraries did you guys discover/create?

Been messing around with raylib for a while, and it's really nice having a DrawMesh function that just draws a mesh, and leaving all the little details for later.

    I made something

I'm thinking of making this a more technical community, rather than discussing marketing and business issues of game dev. But I might be biased. One thing for sure is that I'll allow 'showoff' posts, for now unless the flood the place.

EDIT: also disclaimer i'll be straight up astroturfing this place for a day or two to attract commenters. Feel free to replace my weak attempts at discussion with better posts.
