3 episodes into the Fallout show on Prime, and it feels like this is what we're getting instead of Fallout 5 (for now)
First of all, the show is very good. I’m extremely impressed with how remarkably “Fallout” the world is and how so very good every single visual is. It really IS real-world Fallout brought to life. From the sets, to the costumes, to the set design… every tiny minuscule detail is perfect! The dialogue, the tone, even the weird sense of dark humor; it’s all there. And the trailers hid a lot, which I’m so grateful for!
But it feels like the narrative of a full-on Fallout game (which, I suppose, it should). It takes place (minor spoilers) in LA, about 10 years after Fallout 4. From what I can tell so far, it’s probably the narrative they would have used for FO5. It’s very good, and would have made for a spectacular game I would have spent another 13,000 hours paying over the better part of a decade, but I reeeaaally wish we could have gotten FO5 instead. Or, ya know, also.
“Everyone wants to save the world. They just disagree on how.”…

In this video Warlockracy plays through the original Fallout discusses what he likes about it. It's themed largely in comparison to Fallout 2.
The content of the video probably won't be news to fans of the classics but I liked the way the video was written and it makes for a decent background noise while you do other things. It's 50 minutes long but you'll probably know in the first 5 if it's worth watching.
For those interested the Van Buren tech demo is still available on ModDB
The technical demo for Black Isle Studio's Van Buren (cancelled Fallout 3)
Van Buren is the codename Black Isle Studios assigned to their second iteration of Fallout 3. It saw development by Black Isle Studios until its cancelation in December 8, 2003 and would have been published by Interplay Entertainment.
It takes place in the United States of America during the Great War. The player character in the demo is referred to only as Citizen, though they share a model with the Prisoner. The Citizen made their way to the relocation center and was escorted to Vault 1 by Corporal Armstrong of the 4th or 13th Armored Infantry Division. To reach the vault, they must fight communist insurgents. After they enter the vault, they must help turn on the life support system.
The URL I linked with this post is to the ModDB page. It's an interesting novelty.
A lot of elements from Van Buren would go on to appear in Fallout New Vegas.
Multiple mods have attempted to recreate what could have been using the leaked des
Creator of Fallout challenge run videos, Mitten Squad, is dead.
The beloved creator of Fallout and Elder Scrolls challenge runs, Joseph Wilson, known as ‘Mitten Squad,’ has died at the age of 27.
Some unfortunate news. He was quite popular in the Fallout community so I thought I would share this here.
The article is from a week ago but I just heard about it today.
Is Fallout 76 worth playing? Any tips for someone who is starting to play it?
It's something I've been putting off for years now but it seems like the release of the Wastelanders DLC changed a lot of people's minds but I'm wondering what the state of the game is in late 2023.
Does it feel like a cash grab at times? Where you are forced to relentlessly grind?
If it is worth playing; should I be aware of anything?
Do you think a Fallout NV play through would be possible where you are required to kill a named NPC every 10 minutes?
Bit of a unique challenge I was thinking of.
Essentially every time you kill a named non-playable character the timer restarts and you have 10 minutes to kill another named NPC or the game is over.
A named NPC would be a character like Doc Mitchell not a generic character like Novac Settler.
I am wondering if 10 minutes is too much or too little time.
I would be interested to hear some feedback on how you think a run like this would go and parts that might prove difficult.
What do you think a Fallout game set in New York would be like? What do you think would be neat to include?
Here is the Fallout Wiki page for New York. For those that don't know Emil Pagliarulo did an interview with NoClip where he said that New York was a planned location for Fallout 4 and that he still has design documents for a game set there.
I think Fort Montgomery/Fort Blunder could be neat. They were built between 1844 and 1871 on the US-Canada border after the war of 1812. Construction stopped and the first fort was abandoned after they realized, due to a surveying error, they were actually building it within Canada's borders. Given Canada's annexation in the Fallout universe I think it would be humorous to see this place presented by the US as a glorified symbol of Canada's annexation.
Do you have any recommendations for a survival/crafting heavy run of Fallout New Vegas?
I think I only used crafting a few times in NV and it was likely for an achievement or because a mod required it so I was thinking about doing a crafting focused play through.
I think I'm going to focus a bit more on the survival aspect as well. I've played on hardcore mode before but because Nuka Cola reduces your tiredness and last time I was using the cannibal perk and didn't have to worry about food I think I missed out on the true hardcore mode experience.
I'd appreciate any tips. Maybe some places to check out to get recipes or things for crafting ammunition for example.
What are some misconceptions casual fans have about the Fallout universe?
Here are some that come to mind for me.
"New York is just a giant crater."
This idea mostly comes from the Fallout Bible; a series of documents from the early 2000s designed to provide background on the world of Fallout. It is considered non-canon and the quote that references New York states the following.
"June 2065 Due to enormous demands for electricity in the summer of 2065, a nuclear reactor in New York City almost goes critical. The near meltdown brings into effect power rationing, and the term 'Hot Summer' is used to refer to the New York incident."
There is no mention of New York being destroyed.
In Fallout 4 the Civil Alert System Broadcast says New York was hit by a nuclear attack but also mentions other places that we have seen are still habitable in-game.
This morning, Saturday, October 23rd, authorities detected that a nuclear attack had commenced against the United States. The following cities affected include, but are not limited to: Washington, DC; New Y

It's to see what Fallout 3 could have been and what elements were carried over to Fallout New Vegas.
What's your favorite mod for any Fallout game?
I really like the Project Cartographer mod for Fallout 4, it adds map markers to all the notable unmarked locations in the Commonwealth, it adds several hours of entertainment.
The SomeGuy series of mods for Fallout New Vegas were also a lot of fun and blended right in with the base game.
There's also the neat open source recreations and ports like fo2.exe to play the classic Fallout games on your phone and projects like Fallout 4 New Vegas.
Maybe there's some neat smaller mods that you like
Mobile Truck Base - TTW
tdx73's Mobile Truck Base, updated for TTW 3.2. One truck per wasteland, like the version by Tooplex.
As I continue through my fallout tale of two wastelands play through I wanted to a share a cool mod that came with the package of mods I used. I totally forgot about it until I found it in old lady gibsons scrap yard and bought it off her for 250 caps.
Now I have a mobile base with automatic sorting and can easily travel around both DC and Vegas. Just needs flamer fuel!
More Fallout TV show leaks have happened, showing off a Vault-Tec building and an armored character holding a gun, in Amazon's take on the Bethesda game series.
Fingers crossed that the show is at least worth watching...I've been wanting new Fallout content for a while that isn't tied to Fallout 76
Fallout 4 The Midnight Ride
Preamble about the guide's goals and requirements.
After i finish Fallout 3 / NV with Tale Of Two Wastelands, I plan to play Fallout 4! I played it when it first came out but never the DLC. So I am going to give it a try with The Midnight Ride, brought to us by the folks over at moddinglinked (who also brought The Best of Times for TTW and Viva new vegas. I think they also helped with Wasteand Survival guide?
The central villain of Fallout New Vegas, Mr House, is replaced by SpaceX and Twitter owner Elon Musk in a new fully voiced FNV mod, available now.
I haven't downloaded this one yet... lol debating it before I finish FO3 and cross over. It seems fitting.
New imagery has leaked from the production set of the Fallout TV series, revealing new Vault-Tec-themed environments.
Honestly forgot about the show for a brief moment (since the initial photos posted by people who live near the set) some cool shots!
Finally got around to playing Tale of Two Wastelands
I haven’t played fallout 3 in a long time. New Vegas I’ve played over quite a few times. This time I’m doing tale of two wastelands.
Playing fallout 3 in new Vegas game feels much better then native fallout 3. Using the suggested mod kits keep it vanilla but modernize some textures and interface items. I haven’t finished 3 / gone to Vegas yet but I’m really enjoying my play through so far.
