  • Kansas requires voters to present a state-issued form of ID to be able to vote, which is almost always going to be a driver's license or a state ID, both of which are affected by this change. If the license/ID is invalidated, no ability to vote.

Given that midterms are coming up, this could very well be a deliberate move to disenfranchise members of the trans community by denying their right to vote at a key political moment.

  • I went to the Nazi bar so no one else would have to.

  • The pessimist in me wonders if those 30% of Republicans simply don't know what erratic means.

  • When is it a bad thing to encourage best practices on the Internet to verify sources and recognize signs of LLM slop? They took the time to explain why it's better to get a direct source and avoid middlemen. That's not "defensive".

Your argument is that they simply could have searched for additional sources, but I think you've proven the point that simply searching without verifying is likely to yield garbage.

There's no disparaging OP here unless they are the author of the article. But I believe that the article is being properly criticized for the things it does wrong.

  • That's my take as well. You can also remove AI results from Google by adding the &udm=14 string to force web results only, but it doesn't absolve them of blame for how much they push AI. DDG deserves equal criticism.

It's like old Reddit. Sure it still exists, but it only gets worse and worse as they double down on the version everyone hates until the majority don't even know there's another option. And there's no guarantee they keep supporting the option that makes them less money.

  • I didn't watch it, is the implication that he did not mention China at all and therefore drew 25 cards? Seems unlike Trump to not bring China into every irrelevant discussion he can.

  • Yeah, that's how much I used to pay for Google Play Music+YouTube Premium together.

For just YouTube without ads, I'd maybe consider it for, like, $2.99 because I'd like the convenience of being able to use it on my Chromecast again, but $8/mo is just beyond the pale.

  • Love the radio noise surrounding it in the photograph

  • Our place is ventilated well enough that I don't need to open the windows for ventilation or to manage humidity per se, but I am fortunate enough to live in an area with good quality air, so I often do in spring/summer/fall just because it feels fresher.

In winter, I don't want to freeze or waste energy, so I usually keep them closed. But once in a while, if I have my computer running for a long time and the heat is also on for the rest of our place, I may crack the window a bit just to keep that room from becoming unbearably hot.

  • Tapioca pearls.

It's starch shaped into balls, then typically boiled in a mix of sugar and water to a gelatinous consistency.

Not sure what differences there are between the black and white ones though. I usually see the white ones, smaller in size, used in tapioca pudding, while the black ones are often larger and used for boba tea.

  • I'm not sure what it says, but I do know that writing is Greek and not cuneiform, so it's likely not the complaint about Ea-nasir.

A matching image search says it may be one of the inscryptions around Arsameia, but I don't know enough about Greek writing or archaeology to say that with any certainty.

  • Training material doesn't need to be diverse when the AI models are intended to promote very specific ideologies. It's probably better to limit the sample size to "approved" discourse in those circumstances.

  • Sorry, none shall be spared.

  • Terrarium is probably what they meant, though it wouldn't surprise me if the term might be used differently in different languages, even.

  • Maybe. Though it might still be difficult with the number of button combos (basically a different function for each pair of face buttons you press at the same time).

Gameplay-wise it feels more like a fighting game than something like Dark Souls, it's built around combos. I'm sure it'll be fun for many, and like I said things could even be different than when I tried it a year ago, but for now I'm gonna wait and see what reviews say after launch, maybe wait for a sale if I'm still on the fence.

  • Hilary Knight (pictured in the article) proposing to Brittany Bowe was also a highlight of the events this year.

  • I had a chance to play it at an event last year. Maybe things have improved in the interim, but I've never played a game with a more obtuse control scheme in my life.

    Who puts jump on square??

  • new ‘Last Ronin’

So I guess it wasn't the last, huh?
