  • I put a rate limit on my nginx docker container. No clue if it worked but my customers are able to use the website now. I get a Alton of automated probing and SQL injection requests. Pretty horrible considering I built my app for very minimal traffic and use session data in places rather than pulling from DB and the ddos basically attacks corrupt sessions

  • Got it in that case a tracker might be a better option. Some of those are very accurate like in house accurate. Movement is all you need to see

  • This is not really a technology question. I would pull a favor and see who can check in on your car/live in/take it in. I have a ton of animals and it's hard to get people that don't bail out so I resort to questionable people that are pretty much homeless and we're 100bucks goes a long ways. Or pull a favor from family

  • I dunno sort of have the opposite experience, up until this year I used a 2015 MacBook I found at a relatives house and Linux installed. Got me through college until I finally caved in and got a used thinkpad(13th gen) for $350. Phones are a whole different ballgame where as I can all day get a computer decent enough to use for $100. New phone ended up costing me 400 for enough storage

  • So I'm still on stock android on a pixel and there is no option for just pin? Maybe I have to remove fingerprint from the phone first but there is basically a serious backdoor built in. How many people will be able to turn there phone off under duress?

  • Yea and I bet you installed it for them. If you provide IT support for people than yea totally doable. I switched to android and people call my phone a cheap phone or laugh at it granted the people I hang out with me included are middle class at best and I have a flagship phone and they are rocking iPhone 11s and stuff. Point being marketing is key and open source doesn't have a Nike like following

  • I tried Mac os and I thought it was cool until I got docker and it made me make an account. It also in order to change things in the desktop environment you had to pay for apps and I'm cheap. Windows is annoying to me after being on Linux for so long even if they have wsl. My computer broke and I ended up needing Linux to make an old MacBook we had work again is the only reason I switched originally. Developing software I appreciate that the ide and terminal are super convenient to use. Normal people for Linux.... Nope. Getting my Bluetooth to work was a 3 hour journey. Normal people use their PC that much in a month where as I use mine 12 hours+ a day.

  • Hi I just checked it out looks awesome. Unfortunately going down the rabbit hole again is looking less appealing. That's what I liked about regolith, maybe I'm happy with gnome after reading the hyprland wiki 😅

  • The Facebook tracking when not installed on the iphone is strange as I thought only android is pre installed in the background not iOS.
