  • How does this work in practice? Someone would have to prove that it's AI generated, which isn't straight forward.

    Also, I'm not clear this protects the release of code centered a trade secret or under NDA.

    So while the court ruled it's public domain. Could it still be prevented from release? Like a Microsoft employee couldn't just dump sections of the AI code to the internet I imagine.

    Competitive advantage: Trade secrets can cover information that would not qualify for patents or copyright but still has economic value.

    I would imagine dumping Microsoft code to the internet would be sued under NDA

    If the arms companies were nationalized, their suppliers and subcontractors wouldn't be.

    Nationalization of the final layer of the arms wouldn't be enough to stop corruption in the industry.

  • I agree. I think hobbies are a good middle ground and neutral.

    It would be nice if men wrote more books like that. The only men who would listen to a women tell them how to change are probably not the target audience.

  • On the flip side, I think men could use more men's groups because male loneliness is problematic. Women don't want to feel responsible for men's loneliness (rightly so), so the natural solution is men need to do better at making friends with men. The problem is doing it in a healthy way

    That said, I would suggest the solution is hobby groups without gender exclusion. Like carpentry, basketball, knitting, dance, ballet. Hobbies seem to self select.

    Most of my hobbies are female dominated in my conservative area.

    When conservatives get in power, they will do the same to you. I'm not anti woke. It's just important to realize that things need to calm down. There are other ways to get what you want. "Violence [arresting] is the last refuge of the incompetent."

  • This is a good point. I think we just need to make it clear that if the government wants enforce these age rules, they are responsible for the API.

    I don't want to give my data to a data broker, but the government could definitely provide such an API.

  • My kid was very ashamed of making mistakes and was unreceptive to help. (Local culture where I am is fucked up). First I started to work on the "mistakes are okay if we safely experiment".

    I play games where either I or a toy was a baby and my kid was a parent/teacher/sensei. Then I would make mistakes or not know how to do stuff, and then my kid teaches me how. Could be silly stuff like avatar airbending lessons or magic lessons.

    I also told stories about penicillin and how it was a mistake that was really good. I'd teach cool things like chopping wood with an axe, but safely (wide legs, hand near the axe head). Also I would tell stories about where I made mistakes and was dumb as a kid. Like cutting with a knife towards myself, breaking a window, etc.

    Now my kid is pretty okay with mistakes. Much less shame. Now I can just straight up say "can I show you a trick? It's a big tricky to do, but I think it's easier".

    Working on fear of other kids next, but that'll take some time
