  • I’m actually kind of shocked that these VPN clients don’t have little sandbox functions built into them where you can launch an app from within the client and the client keeps that app in a little sandbox that only has the clients own path to the internet. It would be an easy mode for this kind of thing.

  • It looks like we are going that way. Frankly it’s for the best. Tor has become a risk and that’s just not acceptable under this regime.

  • Twink Link: “I got this”

  • It’s possible dad was lying.

  • The goal is to train our replacements so the rich will have replacement servants ready when their slaves start dying off.

  • Oh good, now Roblox porn will become a thing. Start laying by that bricc dicc.

  • Mad cow!

  • Because it’s not their fucking money! If someone is selling a thing, offers to sell it to me for money, and I give them money, I get the fucking thing! The processors can fuck right off with their Victorian bullshit.

  • Did you just rule 34 that “first they came for…” poem? Jesus Christ. Bravo, but still.

  • That’s the entire point of this. They want to control everything in your life, including the pervy things that affect literally nobody. The entire point is to restrict happiness to things they control. Anything they don’t control is bad.

I think the porn games are stupid but they don’t harm people at all so there is no reason for them not to exist.

In other news, I have a similar form of financial censorship. For years, I have refused to accept or send money through PayPal and its sister products.

  • Wait a minute, PayPal is pulling puritanical bullshit again? Did they learn nothing from the last time they tried that?

  • My understanding of that was Facebook just gave up on human moderation and let an AI do whatever it wanted. Still unacceptable but totally foreseeable.

  • Oh please understand I read your comment as intrigue and not hostility. I welcome the conversation, including any rebuttals that could prove me wrong.

I like it here on Lemmy. People complain about the tankies but overall it’s actually been very tame and friendly compared to Reddit and conversations like this are just a joy for me.

  • Or you could switch from using a bank to a credit union.

  • It solves a problem we don’t really have anymore.

  • I’m planning a similar exodus. I like my apple stuff but considering its heavy reliance on the cloud, lower level system access I can’t control, and that it’s an American company operating under a Nazi regime, I really can’t trust it anymore.

Moving to Linux isn’t so bad, but I’m really struggling with leaving iOS. Android has a lot of limitations if you try to break free from Gemini-surveilled stuff. Simple things I take for granted like tap to pay wouldn’t be practical on such a device anymore.

It kills me there’s nothing I can do software-wise to make the Samsung z fold7 an acceptable option for me. Really impressed by that device and my carrier does have some compelling promos for it, but even under this regime, I don’t trust Samsungs software.

  • This is actually pretty interesting. Russians are typically more tech savvy than you would expect. A factory full of them and this still happened.

  • You are missing my point. If you have access to that data, you are already going to be killed no matter what you plan to do with it. You’re a loose end.

There’s no incentive to keep quiet.

  • The only flash drive I ever had fail me that wasn’t made by sandisk was a generic microcenter one, which was so cheap I couldn’t bring myself to care about it.
