  • There’s a more plausible but less exciting explanation for this too. Trump has no confidence at all. He’s pathetic. He is desperately seeking affirmation externally and only from certain terrible people. He wants the approval of people he considers impressive because he doesn’t understand how or why the world (or people) work the way they do. Think back to his years in New York. He had a horrible reputation he was never willing to change. He just wants to rebrand himself and all the things people hate about him as desirable traits. All the elites in New York fucking hated him so now he’s trying to find “better friends”. Trump is weak. He has no solid foundation of self. So he needs everyone else to support his emotional needs.

  • And just like that he is no longer useful to them.

Remember the end of the lion king where the hyenas eat Scar?

  • So their taxes drop, the cost of goods and services go up because…..why?

Why is it considered so damn important to keep rich people happy? Just fucking eat them. Or put them in a zoo isolated from the rest of us and tended to by the shitty AI they are so crazy about. Make the entire thing pay per view so I can watch them turn their environments into hellscapes while we live perfectly fine without them.

  • They did specialize, yes, but the products did last longer and there was a goal to keep quality high so their reputation would pull customers back later on.

But that socialization wasn’t strict. Companies changed focus all the time.

  • That should be a fun defcon.

  • Well I can’t see anything better I can get. The X-series are hard to come by and super pricy.

  • It’s how businesses were run for literally hundreds of years.

  • Who cares?

  • Nothing has Ai. Everything that does refuses to explain what their use of that term means. It's like buying the name brand cereal over the generic because someone slapped an "asbestos free" sticker on it.

  • My friends and I have this imaginary scenario of funny things we could do with lots of money. A few that come to mind:

    • buy all the properties around gated community/HOA entrances and exits. build low income housing.
    • create an organization that intentionally donates to horrible causes on the condition you can say they accepted the money even if they return it. use the logo and organization name as a canary to warn everyone at a glance something is shady.
    • start an online youtube-like platform that shares the ways the fuck you money is being used hilariously. allow reposts to other platforms like youtube, but never take down our own shit, making any of their attempts to censor it self harming.

I think I'm going to start referring to this scenario as #withGabeNewellsmoney

  • I prescribe extra wet food

  • -sigh-

Create an instance that’s nothing but tons of bots bullshitting eachother and include them in the numbers. You know, the ways all the other companies lie about their user count.

  • There’s a huge demand from consumers for that. Just not from investors.

  • I never understood the appeal of anything rich people like. A yacht? An HOA? A supercar? These don’t appeal to me at all. If given them I would hate them.

I mean it might be fun to buy a politician but otherwise it sounds boring.

  • I took a week off work to burn some PTO I can’t carry over. I stayed busy the entire time, it was exhausting. But I was doing something ELSE.

It’s amazing what removing yourself from work for a week can do. Even though I was super busy the entire time, first day back at work felt calm.

  • My problem with using a bridge as it means packets just keep getting copied multiple times and on gigabyte that’s really choking my system. On the other hand, the wind port on that neck is going to be public facing so I kind of want all those security features in place, even if it’s unlikely they’re gonna be necessary

  • There’s been some drama over of GitHub about it that are dismissive about, and there’s some network security guy on YouTube that covered a few episodes worth of the ToR security drama. I’m at work and don’t have time to look it up right now. If you can’t find it, hit me up again later. It’s somewhere in my history.

  • It does support SR-IOV. It supports IOMMU and ACS too, but only for the GPU slot and one of the M2 slots too, so I kind of have to dance around this. Everything else is dumped into a single IOMMU group.

I considered the proxmox approach but decided against it because my GPU is supposedly really difficult to make cooperate with these virtualized environments, so I made it go bare metal and the only VM that would need run would then be the router/firewall stuff. As you can see, thats not going super well.

I'm likely going to end up getting another motherboard just for the freaking passthrough. The whole point of this was to get myself off the cloud and give myself the netboot setup I actually wanted rather than what firewalla has decided I should have but its just not going well :(.
