  • Yeah, i assume you're like a lot of other people where you don't want everything you do to be tracked online. The service from Google is functional and all, by not trustworthy.

    You can adjust this on your device (per device) or on your home modem/router/gateway, etc to cover all devices. Keeps Google, MS, Apple, ISP from tracking all online queries for all devices.

    You can go one step further andd block all outgoing requests from all devices over port 53 and leave your router configured to do them all, then just configure you're DHCP settings to use your gateway (like 192.168.1.1) for both gateway and DNS

    1. I dislike her pronunciation of GrapheneOS really emphasizing the "ene" part
    2. For anyone not wanting to be stuck buying a Pixel, new or used (still kind of pricey), look into LineageOS /e/, or CalyxOS (though CalyxOS is paused for an interal audit or something)
    3. What about other data being sent over your carrier network outside of just Google? You're better off buying a plan for a mobile hotspot so it limits data that IDs you with your IMSI and IMEI info. Carriers otherwise still monetize your data, even though Google isn't getting it.

    My next phone will be whatever I want that'll run LineageOS (sure, no "Titan chip") but will run F-Droid store, and only run on a hotspot I'll have with me (for work, goes in my work bag), anywhere else can sit in my car or pocket, etc. It'll help as I use private/FOSS apps, randomized MAC for WiFi, VPN services, etc. Hushed or done 2nd phone nine for WiFi calling, etc

    I also have been social media free for over a decade now. No Amazon, no streaming services, and self-host anything I can

    Yes, I get it, she has a psychiatric illness now with chronic pain due to a previous suicide attempt, but it didn't rally mention any attempts at either treating her issues or how actually severe it was. A lot of people can self-diagnose "depression" or other illnesses, and the article doesn't do a good job explaining actual severity, just sounds like they also support her by how is written.
