  • I've read the second one, too.It has a really weird (IMO flawed) narrative arc and is much more confusing. The second half of it mostly deals with issues translating another race's language. And it's written from the point of view of the spiders who are trying to translate. So you as the reader also have no idea what's going on most of the time. Its ending leads into a direction where I decided I'm not interested in the rest of the series anymore.

  • There was a native bug species already hiding inside the ant colonies. The spiders reverse-engineered their trick to gain control over the ants.

  • The day's work done, I'm home at last to restBe gone, Excel! Be gone, all office drama!I free myself from jacket, pants and vestAnd slink into my pink pyjama.

  • IDIOCRACY predicted our NOW and it was disappeared.

What do you mean with "disappeared"? You can stream it on Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+, YouTube, and buy it on optical media.

  • Telling your boss you trained a personal LLM with company data will lead to nothing but you holding a box full of your stuff about 10 minutes later.

  • To drive 100m in 10s you'd need to accelerate hard to 20m/s (45 mph or 72 km/h) within 5 seconds and then do an emergency stop half way.

  • If you can push, push!I need all the fossil fuels for myself, slave!

  • I feared someone would think it's AI.But in my experience, AI is never funny. It's not my profession, I just love languages and wordplay. And I'm old school, I actually have a paperback rhyme lexicon and a thesaurus on my desk.

  • This is a key plot point in the (very good) science fiction novel "Children of Time".

  • If I read this right, it's literally just a USB stick that's broken, with no replacement in storage.

Data centre staff attempted reseating the signing key across available USB ports without success.

Lmao they literally just tried plugging it into different USB ports.

  • Did God create humans, or did humans create God?

  • The DNA mutation doesn't happen when the chicken hatches, it happens when the egg is made. So the egg already has the changes that turn it into a chicken egg.

  • In the middle ages you didn't file taxes. You paid whatever your lord's tax man said you owe when he showed up at your door with his goons. And the amount he demanded might not be related in any way to the king's or even your lord's laws.

  • According to this legislation, using https is against the law.

  • You're arguing for protecting the PC from malicious changes made by you, the owner. This is corporate speak. Yes, it would make sense to lock down a PC like that in a corporate setting. For private use, the point is to secure the PC against malicious changes made by other people. In this case, signing code yourself is perfectly fine.
