  • I wrote "they are becoming much more powerful". The point isn't to beat big players, the point is that we will be able to run models that are just capable of what need, not the super smartest models available. Your last sentence I agree with, that may very well be what happens, except by then we'll have Qwen4 and it'll be even more efficient and more powerful.

  • Happy Linux user over here. Free open source AI models are becoming much more powerful, and things like "Apple Intelligence" and "Co-Pilot" will be looked back on like Netscape.

  • Overall I agree with the push against cars in an extremely dense city. Emergency vehicles, public transportation, logistics trucks (delivery/moving/etc) should have priority. I also like it when people lead by example.

  • .

  • Using AI to determine if they were generated using AI.

  • Good, Mamdani and Furnas should only be allowed to use public transportation for work purposes, otherwise they'd be hypocrites right? 🤔

  • I mean, it's been pretty clear for a while now. Side question, why use "pc" instead of "%"? A bit confusing.

  • Yea the data center stuff is an absolute bubble, and models are becoming significantly cheaper rapidly. We won't need all these data centers because reasonably usable AI models will be so efficient you can run them on a powerful gaming computer. Not everyone needs the absolute most powerful smartest model like Gemini 3.

  • True, if you ask about the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre and other things typically censored by the Chinese government they won't answer. But interestingly, there are variants that have been uncensored, and those models will answer openly if you use something like together.ai versus kimi.com. Because they are open source, they are easily uncensored.

  • We aren't going to stop AI usage, but what we can do is educate people on how to use the most efficient models. Both DeepSeek v3.20-Exp and Kimi K2 Thinking are significantly more efficient than Claude/Gemini/ChatGPT.

  • I hear you. 🤡

  • The unfortunate thing that needs to be recognized is that we're already beyond the point where someone skilled can create AI generated content that looks hand made or like a real photograph. The thing we need to be focusing on is context and corroboration. Even if some content looks completely real and genuine, if it isn't corroborated and no one knows where it came from, then it becomes safer to assume that it was generated with AI, manipulated, or photoshopped.

  • Rapid enshittification, people will just use on of the others on the long list of alternatives. I currently recommend either DeepSeek v3.2-Exp or Kimi K2 Thinking.

  • That's why I made an AI generated community, because a part of the solution to stop people from posting AI generated stuff in other communities is to give them a place to post it. It still has to follow all the rules, but worst case is that someone posts something real in the AI generated community. https://lemmy.world/c/AIGenerated

  • I stopped paying for health insurance years ago, no way I can afford it now. I just get it through my state system.

  • Thanks for posting this and reminding me that I should have one for my car. Just got one.

  • Yea I agree, but getting people behind the idea is difficult. Too many idiots nowadays would think "dividend" and "We The People" is communist or some stupid shit. The word "Compensation" would break through a lot of the idiots brainwashing and bring more people together as they see robots literally do the work that they could have done and been paid for.

    I dunno

  • Doubt it, don't think Bezos or Musk give a single shit what you think.
