  • This is the kind of weird stuff that happens near the peak of a bubble.

  • The business I work for which does refurbishment has been doing extremely well. People are buying second hand more often as well which I think is good. We're at the point where most people don't need the newest hardware, and can easily do everything they need with a device that was released 5 years ago.

  • AI doesn't generate its own code, humans using AI generate code. If a person uses AI to generate code and doesn't know good practices then of course the code is going to be worse.

  • This is peak bubble type shit.

  • The gaming industry for new games being released is brutal. The competition is sky high, and all you need to think about are games like Stardew Valley or Skyrim. There are so many options to choose from, a new young gamer has barely any reason to pay full price for any new games. We are entering the "Please play out game! It's free!" phase, and still no one will spend the time. Time and attention are the most valuable thing.

  • the problem with getting off gasoline is because it is so efficient

You're mistaking energy density with efficiency. Yes, gasoline is more energy dense than even the most advanced batteries, but burning it and turning it into torque using a combustion engine is not more efficient than a battery powered electric motor.

  • This is a waste of time and makes the vehicle more complex. Gasoline is inefficient, and they'd be better off making better batteries. Why are US car companies so desperately trying to make electricity seem like something scarce? Charging a car is so much more efficient than filling it with oil and exploding that oil to power it.

  • That's not how this works at all. The people training these models are fully aware of bad data. There are entire careers dedicated to preserving high quality data. GPT-4 is terrible compared to something like Gemini 3 Pro or Claude Opus 4.5.

  • Cheaper for the consumer to purchase, I have my suspicions.

Why would it be cheaper to produce, but more expensive to purchase? Because of bullshit rules that will not be long lived.

  • The great thing is that it won't matter. EVs are going to become extremely cheaper and more efficient, making them the clear choice over the next couple years.

  • Data is beautiful, when it's accurate and has sources.

  • Why are you using Python instead of Rust.

  • I hate to break it to you 4chan dwelling normie fucking stupid shit head, but that 25 hrs a week is not because of the Affordable Care Act. It's because of greedy capitalist fucks who are squeezing you for every cent they give you to maximize profit margins well beyond what they need to for a healthy business model.

  • The words "universal" and "income" are so charged now. A lot of people dismiss it immediately as "unearned".

  • I agree we need a universal basic income, I refer to it as "automation compensation". It only works if corporations and investors are banned from owning residential homes. Also we need to construct an abundance of efficient high rises to ensure there's more than enough availability. In order for basic necessities like housing, electricity, water, and food are met, we need the infrastructure plan to guarantee availability. Otherwise, a UBI will just drive up costs because owners and sellers will account for that extra money people can spend.

  • Not possible while still dependent on nicotine and giving tobacco companies money.

  • Plenty of room underneath between the wheels.

It can’t go under the truck bed, because you can’t have it squishing something like a rock into the battery.

Yea you can, with a reinforced bottom.

This is what the Audi e-tron battery looks like, 95 kWh

The lights on it are useless.

New LED headlights are very useful. Could easily be upgraded.

The windshield wiper path doesn’t match the snow clearing on the window.

Yea this is true visibly. Could have two wiper blades no problem.

  • AI is still pretty controversial, the energy usage, error rate, and the copyright laws. A lot of users on Lemmy are adamantly anti-AI, but it's never going away. I've mostly embraced it and accepted it, and I think it's important for people to know what you can do using AI tools.
