  • depression is certainly a side effect of capitalism. obviously there are other things that can cause it but more people are depressed than ever before (more or less) and i think the social isolation encouraged by current-stage capitalism is a factor. a lot of people choose to self-medicate. there have been times in my life i would get really down every month or so and decide to get really fucked up about it. usually it made me feel a bit better.

  • it's one thing for him to have her on his show or talk to her or whatever. even if he wanted mitch mcconnell on his show like that, i wouldn't be saying anything. telling people they should vote for her because she's gonna fix our problems is another thing entirely. she is a "P-trap" socdem; he shouldn't be endorsing her or calling her "pro-working class". she's probably the least pro-worker of the entire squad, and that's the most generous thing i can say about her. the time he quoted lenin out of context to make the point that we should vote blue no matter who makes him highly suspect to me too. and besides that, his stuff about men going to brothels is super libbed up. i'd be really disappointed in him for that, if i had a positive opinion of him to begin with.

  • i think they would be the artisan class. they don't employ anyone, and there isn't a clear path they all follow to get there. it's likely their "business" will never expand beyond them. so they aren't affected as much by labor disputes or property stuff as the petty bourgeoisie. therefore they aren't as inclined to erratic change or reaction as the petty bourgeoisie. not that they don't have some reactionary tendencies on occasion. especially when they start getting proletarianized. this is a good article i read about that https://polclarissou.com/boudoir/posts/2023-02-03-Artisanal-Intelligence.html
