  • Either they get ghosted or they get the placid HR lady forged in the hell of emotional abuse and violence. I'm not emotionally shutting down because I was taught expressing feelings is on par with exposing my belly to the blade, you are.

  • Sounds legit to me. I need to bone up on my Kama Sutra.

  • I clicked because I had no idea. I learned something new today.

  • But they're all getting along! Nature said they can't be friends, instead they had a party.

    We can learn from them.

  • Some terms from this article:

SC - Scheduled Castes, groups that have historically faced social discrimination, "untouchability," and exclusion based on the caste system. They are often referred to as "Dalits."

ST - Scheduled Tribes, communities that are recognized as indigenous or tribal populations. They are typically characterized by their distinct culture, language, and social practices.

OBC - Other Backwards Classes (yes, this is a government term) - communities that are socially and educationally "backward" but do not fall under the SC or ST categories.

Brahmin and Shudra - Two of the four main social classes (Varna) in the Hindu caste system. Brahmin were historically superior, intellectuals and priests. Shudra were servants and laborers.

  • Me neither. It kinda makes me wonder if the whole pet thing is just a way to popularize and fund research for arguably better uses of the technology. Not to bring capitalism into it, but definitely bringing capitalism and headline-seeking science into it.

    For another perspective:

MIT Review - 1st article free.

  • WHY???

    Jump
  • It's bees.

  • That sounds pretty cozy.

Did you read the article, btw? It's about a documentary on UFOs, and it's being covered by tons of major news orgs. Which isn't to say I believe any of it is true, I don't, but I always find it interesting when something new comes out.

Seems like everyone has strong opinions on it, case in point, and it's pretty cool how it's studied in sociology, psychology, and even biology. I mean, damn, were you old enough to remember when everyone had SETI running on their computers?

Anyway, I'd like you to read over the side bar if you want to stick around. I have a higher tolerance for people being assholes to me rather than each other, so keep that in mind.

    1. Be cool to each other. Instance rules apply.

The War for Tibet’s Story: Reclaiming Identity in an Age of Algorithmic Occupation

  • I feel your pain, and I'm concerned about someone who works at a bakery not knowing where ingredients came from.

I'm not even vegetarian but I worked at a vegan/vegetarian restaurant where random people would come in to complain we didn't have any meat on the menu. Like legit walk up to the host stand, pick up a menu, shout "Is there any meat?" and leave in a huff when we tell them no.

Their loss. I made a kick ass curry and put black bean burgers on the menu.

  • One day, chilling behind the counter at my liquor store job, two middle aged guys walked in all wobbly and flushed. Placed two 'light' tall cans by the till and had a short but cute fight over who was paying. Umprompted, told me all about how they started going to crossfit together and how great crossfit is and on Sundays they treat themselves to a couple beers to go with the high protein lunch they make together.

I saw them often after that, they were straight as hell, and the loveliest damn boys I'd ever seen. I loved hearing about how much fun they had at crossfit.

  • Looks like quite a few people here are having a problem seeing the homophobia in that comment. I could definitely use an explanation.

"Cumrag" isn't a great term. I've heard it from strangers when walking down the street in immodest clothing, from guys I don't want to date, and online when dudes I disagree with find out I'm a chick. I definitely associate it with misogyny, so I see Diva trying to gently inform that people might find it offensive.
