The Fedicate Project is here to help Educate, House and Introduce people to the Fediverse and it's various ways.

  • Amazing choice, it's what we've ended up doing with break3.social and social.fedicate.org our Sharkey instances but running more instances is the goal with Lemmy or Piefed in the future.

Glad to see others host there own instance

  • That is understandable, would you not want to run your own to make sure it can't shutdown without you knowing?

  • Amazing to see system admins pop up, it's amazing to create your own instance that others can join and interact. In the future we plan on making PixelFed and Lemmy instances for certain use cases. I think the travel niche could really use the PixelFed system fairly well with how taking photos on your travels could be a helpful thing.

I also know there's some people posting on Loops.video travel things that might work for a future instance at some point.

  • Yeah if something has like "Hey I'm a terrible person.net" yeah get rid of them.

With the hexbear that kinda sucks, by the sounds of it they have a lot of traffic and well keeping the system from flooding others is great it kinda needs some work if you are getting that much traffic from one instance.

  • So what's the advantage for you with using mander.xyz over running your own instance? As you mentioned it's great when you have your own censoring.

  • Yeah it was sad seeing Kbin fall apart, tried Mbin and it's great but doesn't have the same feel in some ways sadly, Maybe the project could get a heart and grow in there own direction in the future as there's so many things they could do to become a great all around Instance but heard amazing things about Piefed and it's on the list of Software I hope to visit and try out in the near future.

  • Hey if you find a good instance that is centered around what you enjoy amazing.

It's a big bonus if it doesn't have people fighting all the time.

  • It's the beauty of the Fediverse we don't need to create accounts elsewhere... well at least most of the time.

  • A good local feed is always helpful. Though I've resorted more to the Global as of late as run my own instances and often don't invite to many people.

  • Are you planning on keeping all three or are you planning on dropping say Lemmy for Piefed as they do the same things?

  • Glad you finally got onto the Instance, what made you choose Lemmy over Mbin or Piefed?

  • How come you are using multiple instances? Is it due to the different interfaces?

I know I run this and a few other accounts from a Sharkey (Microblogging) Instance, from here I get to do most things including post things up on Lemmy & Piefed with just mentioning the Community in the post.

Wafrn is an interesting one, only just started to look into it but it looks like it has some promise to be a Tumblr like experience on the Fediverse.

  • This is something I've been trying to solve, well our social.fedicate.org instance is currently invite only we hope that we can open it up to registrations in the future. We are currently settings things up to set things up correctly as the break3.social instance (the one this account users) is a business instance for projects and other stuff mainly worked on by @sam

Hopefully we see more Sharkey instance that are english based in the future as I know a good few that are english based are Trans / LGBT based what I don't think is your cup of tea (or it might be I don't know)

  • Fair enough, do you think that the main piefed instance is good enough or do you think you'd move to a different instances in the future but stay with the piefed software?

  • I find that keeping the Fediverse open to others as much as possible is a really helpful thing instead of De-Federating on the first little bad message from a user that probably got missed or is being dealt with by the system admin.

  • Do you feel you will change in the future?

I know there's been an okay amount of people that have said about how they moved from Lemmy World due to moderation over reach along with often being de-federated from other instances on bias' (I have no evidence of this, just comments from others to this post)

  • What's that policy? Very open or very closed?

  • Heard pretty good things about Piefed, never have been able to try it out myself yet but it's on the list of things to try out.

  • Always helpful to have instances that are local based even if they are still on the smaller side. If anything the better for the admins

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What made you choose your Fediverse Instance?
