For now casual conversation, just post, and Dull men's club are the best options. But they're not really for chatting, but posting. I doubt they'd ban you for soliciting PMs but maybe.

I relate to a lot of what you post about immigration, not belonging anywhere, but my family is thankfully supportive. If you wanna talk my PMs are open.
When I was a kid we didn't have internet until highschool. We'd borrow mom's laptop for homework and smuggle some games on the way. It made us very... resourceful. Internet was this magical inaccessible thing. I remember when our school gave us tablets with restricted internet, I guessed my math teacher's password based on how he typed and used his account it to access the full internet.
They're from a mastodon instance. They replied to me so maybe the people they @ can see them? Idk. Fediverse is weird. Imagine you're on Reddit and someone tweets at you. Pretty cool though haha
