  • Turok 2 for GBC. Mediocre game, but man, the OST is a banger.

  • Started watching Dragonball this year for the first time since I was a kid. After the last half and latest with Dragonball Z I realized how bad it actually was and that my kid's brain just saved it as good.

  • This is my guess as well. I still remember the tutorial.

  • True Detective Season 1. I have never watched a better show than this although there are many good ones out there as well

  • Such a good show!

  • Mathematicians are very sought after in finance and (quantitative) consulting as well as in software engineering.

  • If I want to avoid connecting my LG smart TV with my network, but I would like to still use a remote with an external device running Jellyfin plugged in via HDMI, what privacy respecting options do I have here? AFAIK, TV sticks run Android and can also collect your data, so my natural guess would be to plug in a device running Linux, but how about remote control?

  • Bleib stehen, du Lump!

  • Zeig mir deine Ware!

  • This would happen under any system since power-hungry narcissists are everywhere, so sooner or later every society would run into these issues. My statement is not meant to defend capitalism but to rather state the question on how to prevent or diminish these kind of influences from power-hungry people, independent of the underlying economic system.

  • There is also Peersuite which is a P2P solution and offers great audio and streaming quality. However, it is mainly a single developer behind it and it hasn't received an update in months. It still lacks some polish and features like a server instance and persistent chats and rooms.

For me, this is the most promising one I have come across in terms of a replacement for Discord.

  • Turok 2 for GameBoy Color. It was one of my first games for the GameBoy and I still love it, although, objectively speaking, it might not even be average. The translation was bad and left me confused (non-native English speaker), the levels were not particularly well designed and the platforming and shooting was very bland. But I did not care and it really threw me into the Lost World (was a huge fan of the Lost World movie based on the novel and also the cheesy 90s TV series). The music was great, though, to the point that I would consider it to be in my top 3 all-time gaming OSTs (I think the composer was Alberto Gonzales). Nowadays, I replay it from time to time on my retro handheld. Despite the general forgettable nature of the game, I still have fond memories playing it and the music plays a big role in this as well.

  • The movie for me was scary but not much for a long while, especially not until the ending. The context of these strange happenings make all the difference to me. So while one could think that there might be just a lunatic out there, who does all this shit for his sadistic satisfaction (which would give give a purely human reason to everything), the ending however shifted everything and made it MUCH scarier, at least for me.

When she ran into this empty scary house in the middle of the night in the middle of the woods, shortly before the climax, and she suddenly sees her missing friend apparently deliriously standing in the corner of some basement room in complete darkness for who knows how long, facing the walls, is so uncanny to me that it almost made me shit my pants. It is a great ending scene since it tops all the events with a heavy surrealistic touch, without explaining anything to the viewer, so your imagination has to fill in the gaps. Was there a real Witch after all? What happened to him? Is there something unexplainable out there?

  • I feel like almost everyone has this one movie they watched (probably too young) that haunted them for days or weeks after.

For me it was IT (1990) when I was 13. I only watched the first movie and it scared the shit out of me. More than a year later, I forced myself to watch the second movie to finally get closure, and it actually helped a lot! But mainly because the second movie is pretty bad, and the ending is the worst (but I was thankful for that, haha).

Since this movie I knew, it is not the type of movies with jump scares, gore and graphic violence that scares me, but the ones that tickle my lively imagination (Blairwitch Project, Paranormal Activities and the like)

In my list of scariest movies of all times, I also have REC and Event Horizon.

  • Thanks a lot for your suggestions and feedback! I also would like to use services within the EU, so I will give Bunny a closer look.

  • I am in the same boat (learning on the go, living in EU and using fail2ban and reverse proxy although I use nginx). Sounds good that it runs so well for you! Where did you register your domain? I'll look into BunnyCDN as well.

  • I looked into porkbun and it seems that they already offer a Cloudflare API for dynamic DNS. Why did you choose to separately use Cloudflare? Bit otherwise it looks promising to give it a try.

  • I have a cronjob that runs every minute to update the IP address. I could try to increase it to every hour or so. In the beginning I tracked how often the ISP changed the address and it was roughly like once every 24-30 hours, cannot really remember.

  • For me it seems like a very similar issue with these inconsistencies. Why would your think it does not really match? Especially given that the network connection of our server location is always fine during these down times?
