  • I saw a post on Mastodon about it, but a cursory search didn’t turn it up. I’ll look a bit more later and see if I can find it

  • They’re already banning trans women just for being trans

  • Oh friend. I suggest you educate yourself, you don’t know how wrong you are.

During the 18th and most of the 19th centuries, the United States had limited regulation of immigration and naturalization at a national level. Under a mostly prevailing "open border" policy, immigration was generally welcomed, although citizenship was limited to "white persons" as of 1790, and naturalization was subject to five-year residency requirement as of 1802. Passports and visas were not required for entry into America; rules and procedures for arriving immigrants were determined by local ports of entry or state laws. Processes for naturalization were determined by local county courts.[1][2][3]

The Wikipedia article on “ History of immigration and nationality law in the United States”

  • Bada bing bada boom

  • Borders are intrinsic to humanity? Citation extremely needed.

In the US, we had open borders for a long time, and there are many places in the world currently that don’t have border controls. Capital flows freely around the world, why shouldn’t people be allowed to?

And respectfully, you don’t know the extent of my activism based on one meme I shared. I advocate for many things. And for what it’s worth, I think it’s more likely that strict borders would be a contributing factor leading to a WWIII. All the more reason to get rid of them.

  • Why do you say that?

  • In the US, you usually only get paid time off if you’re in a full-time, salaried position. Even then, most people only get two or three weeks, and it accrues over time, so you have to save it up for winter holidays, etc

  • Oh yeah. That was a weird feeling. Like “I’m definitely attracted to girls, but not in the way it seems like other guys are?” Honestly, should’ve been a clue that I wasn’t cishet long before i actually put the pieces together lol

  • I found out that my great great grandmother had a name that starts with the first letter of my deadname, and it felt right to me! I thought about the girl name that my parents would have used, but I just don’t feel like it suits me

  • Margaret Thatcher has a grave site in every home in America?!

  • Yes, to be clear, this is a joke! I don’t think you’re a buzzkill, thank you for sharing good and useful information :)

  • You can only get smaller for so long until you run up against the limits of physics

  • Find ways to be anywhere but that environment as much as possible. Volunteer for something, join a club or sports team, or just hang out at the library. Being out of that environment will help you clear your mind. Use that time to start making plans to create your own safe place where you can exist independently. It might take time to get there, depending on the resources available to you, but small steps over time add up.

  • I came out to my wife almost a year ago, and while we certainly had plenty of conversations to figure out how we felt about it initially, we’re still going strong with no plans to separate, and hoping to have a baby in the next year or so. Why would having a baby mean you’re stuck not transitioning?

Part of why I decided to transition is because being a mom sounds amazing to me, but I was dreading having to be a dad. If your wife is supportive (although it sounds like maybe she isn’t), there are lots of families with trans parents.
