I haven't read anything about what hamas thought would happen after the October 7th attack. Did they think Israel would do nothing because hamas had hostages?
Or were they trying to prompt a huge response? Certainly the abhorrent despicable acts perpetrated against women that were detailed in the article are something no one would ignore. Similar to Bucha in Ukraine, the horror won't make people surrender, just the opposite.
Satisfaction that the rich are going to get fucked by climate catastrophe and ecosystem collapse just as much as everyone else. The climate change deniers will starve just like the rest of us.
It's been billions of years before I existed, and potentially trillions of years afterwards. I'm incredibly lucky to be aware and thinking, so why should I complain about stuff happening after my spark of awareness has faded?
Earth will continue without humans just fine, eventually getting swallowed by the Sun. Nothing humanity has done will survive.
"took over"? Sure there's a lot of hype but OpenAI's position is not stable. They're reliant on multiple factors to stay in front: cost of running the GPUs, availability of hardware, availability of better code, and lack of equivalent competitors. Each one of those are being rapidly explored by other people. OpenAI is vulnerable and this new industry is in its infancy.
I'm sure that big bonuses will go to the executives responsible for the cost cutting that caused this.
Also, I know it's difficult to care about a job when you're treated like a disposable napkin by the executives, but please try to care about your fellow humans. The disabled person has no choice but to ask for help, don't let indifference to your job dehumanize people.
