  • The problem with regulation is that most of these data giants are US companies, and due to regulatory capture since the 1980s you can't expect much to change there.

  • Amazing! I did not expect that outcome from my comment

  • I'm no expert, but I feel like anywhere they use an algorithm to drive up "engagement" it leads into people being fed rage-bait and then them acting accordingly. This "attention economy" needs to end somehow.

  • Wow that was a lot of vitriol in one post. Hope you're doing ok.

Over here these disposable vapes are unfortunately not banned (which I would prefer too) so taxation would be a step in the right direction. We do have litter here too though, as has been the case with mankind since day one of civilization.

  • Might only take until mid-term elections next year to have dems in power again. That could change things somewhat.

  • These things should be taxed heavily

  • He does anything to make the Epsein circus go away

  • How about routine?

Like, first thing every morning - brush your teeth, make your bed. Every thursday evening - clean your flat. Tuesday at 6pm - check with your closest friends if they have weekend plans.etc

  • When folks call key change a modulation, what comes to my mind is the 70s disco gimmick to go one semitone up with the key on the last chorus.

  • Are we talking about a key change "modulation" or some modulation on synthesizer or fx parameters?

  • That function doesn't seem to function properly btw. I have tried with "meme" and "politics" and communities with those words in them still keep popping into my feed on PieFed.

  • I appreciate you putting it into words instead of just upvoting

  • Up/Downvoting is so 2015. Instead, comment on any interesting posts, and especially the ones with zero comments. This platform is meant to be about discussion, and not just mindlessly sharing links or memes.I, personally, am more inclined to check out a post if it has at least one (non-bot, non OP) comment.

  • That's a good quote.

Also props for recognizing your own people-pleasing tendencies. And I'm glad to hear you've worked on it. It takes time to understand what causes us to be like that. It might be out of fear of rejection or some other unwanted outcome. And it could be based on some irrational assumptions or beliefs.

To be able to accept any outcome in any situation is very difficult, but a strong foundation for confidence and inner peace.

  • There are different kinds of kindness. The people-pleasing kind may come across as being naive and triggers some people. Another kind of kindness is to actually care and be curious about others and that usually comes across better.

  • I can't reproduce this behaviour. Do you refresh the page before removing the vote?

  • Would be a shame if a dozen eggs would accidentally land on that polished chrome surface

  • I was wondering the same... Like why is the skin on top. Then I re-read the title...

  • Tesla's reputation is not doing great

  • I wonder about the hygiene
