  • Except in this case, Google is one of the companies promoting the chatbots to its users, telling them to trust them. They create TV ads telling people to talk to them. Today's scammers are the stock market's Magnificent Seven.

  • Google, of all companies, probably has a better psychological profile of their users than the average doctor. They even offer a public-facing option to disable ads about gambling, alcohol, or pregnancy.

  • Exactly my thoughts/concerns. I seem to remember Motorola has a decent reputation when it comes to unlocking bootloaders, though.

  • There's more color options than all the other options combined! Internally you only get the two choices.

  • If you go to the official Apple store, the one with 512GB storage is $100 more

  • In addition to being more locked down, you'd also have to figure out/purchase peripherals like the keyboard and mouse yourself, right?

Motorola GrapheneOS devices will be bootloader unlockable/relockable

  • Preferably just our brains, but if not that, then perhaps somebody running an open model. DuckDuckGo and Proton both have "their own" options, and people with good enough hardware can run something locally too.

  • Apple heard you and released it for $599-699!

I'm not planning on touching them, but in this economy + the Apple tax, I'm almost impressed

  • Bankrolled by Andreessen-Horowitz three times (2023, 2024, 2025), might depend on your definition of fascism.

According to billionaire tech investor Marc Andreessen, AI is good, fascists are saints, and anyone who stops rich people like him from funding, deploying, and doing whatever they want with tech is a literal murderer.

  • Ars saw his old explanation and conducted an internal review that took weeks, and found it lacking. His new explanation is... He isn't giving one, after being asked for comment.

  • Paying people to share content was the problem. If you bought a Twitter Premium subscription, your big posts would get you money back. So people from poorer countries would post engagement bait.

Elon Musk already subsidizes fake media generation. So why not use that too, right?

  • Did Jack Dorsey hire an unsustainable number of employees?

Maybe, but Jack would rather you look somewhere else.

Jack trusts AI to be the future, and he is good at predicting things (Block is a reference to "Blockchain"), so you need to be frightened.

  • Anybody good on that list? Just going down it...

    A what?!

Become part of Aquari's decentralized marketing force and earn passive income through our proprietary blockchain-based affiliate program...

    wtf

Join the Aquari movement today, mother earth needs you!

That's enough Governance for one day

  • I stumbled upon a massive blog with several pages devoted to attacking one of the scientists who's the target of this lawsuit. It spends thousands of words, paired with obsessive screenshots and photos of Cease and Desist orders, claiming the woman is actually the bad one, and repeatedly insisting she's an industry plant. Wild claims link to more wild claims.

    "High-strung" is putting it nicely.

  • "Wow, sovereignty sounds great," I think to myself, "as long as it's about self ownership, and not about Crypto Bros trying to get you to sell yourself to them."

Turns out it was the latter.

    Here's a few funny profiles.

  • Mullvad should sue for defamation

  • It's a good marketing tactic. Apple is covertly implying that colorful hardware means "cheap," while their standard muted tones mean "premium"
