  • When I see something like this, I just assume that the poster is a pedo worshipping conservative clown that thinks Joe Rogan is the height of intellect and washing your own ass is gay.

Especially considering that meanwhile in actual reality, men and especially white men, are the biggest pearl clutching fucking babies on the internet right now.

  • I think I'm getting over social media. I've been using Facebook over this last year and while it's been nice letting off some steam and telling right wing conservative pedo worshippers exactly what I think of them, it's gotten old. And at this point, there's really nothing else to do there.

There isn't a single space where like-minded people can get together without assholes practising their 'free speech' and shitting on everything and everyone. Not politics, not science, not movies, not cartoons, not comic books. When it's not dumb fkn jocks that flunked anything science or math related spouting conspiracy theories and pseudoscience in science related topics, it's grown adults crying about the wOkE aGeNdA because apparently in the era of being able to choose anything from entire libraries of entertainment they're too fkn dumb to do anything themselves.

And it makes me weary to have any sort of serious discussion around here too because at this point in time, my patience with bootlicking clowns is less than zero.

I wish it was a little more lively around here in other areas, because I'm kinda over posting memes too lol.

  • Why do you need someone or something else to do this work for you?

Lmao way to turn that on me, good one. I'm literally talking about the people who can't just scroll past or block something without needing to act like it was forced on them. The people who campaign to cancel Netflix over 1 show out of 1000s that they could've just scrolled past. The people who live in an era where you can follow exactly what you want online, and watch and listen to exactly what you want on streaming, but still complain about having the wOkE aGeNdA shoved down their throats because they're incapable of wiping their asses (or they think it's gay).

Trust me, I'm not the one with the problem of inserting my business everywhere that I don't belong. I'm not going anywhere near incel forums, or manosphere support groups, or to tell people how fucking stupid their hobbies are. And knowing these people, I'd get banned quickly if I did because they're the biggest pearl clutchers of all. This problem is entirely one sided and caused by certain types of people who are more emboldened than ever these days.

  • Personally I think that this Reddit style is an upgrade design wise. And as far as recognising people goes, I'm using an app that lets you tag users (Summit) and this has gone quite a long way. It's also made the start paying attention to other usernames to an extent, so if I notice that someone often posts content that vibes with me or whatever, I can give them a ⭐ or something.

What I do miss from the days when forums were dominant is that people stayed in their lanes a little more. A particular forum or board or even thread is for a particular topic, and people who derailed or came along just to insult and shit on everything were dealt with, without this crying about 'free speech'.

Current day social media has spawned a bunch of people who feel entitled to say whatever they want to whoever they want in any space they want, and cry about blue haired SJWs or something if there's consequences. And they act like the internet used to be this place where forum moderators didn't rule with an iron fist, or like the 'real world' is somewhere that you can behave this way without being punched in the face.

I just think a lot of problems could be solved if jocks went back to discussing sportsball and cars and stayed in their lanes, instead of considering themselves to be experts on biology and sociology and vaccines. There's a fine line between 'free speech' and letting the inmates run the asylum, and the last 10 years have proven that.

Basically what I miss from the forum days is that back then, the conspiracy theorist idiots would've probably been banned, and would've stayed in the fringes of society instead of going mainstream.

  • According to this random website (just one of the first results on Ecosia): "While clowder is the most common collective noun for cats, a group of cats is also called a cluster, litter (kittens of the same mother), destruction (wild cats), or nuisance."

First time I've heard any of those apart from litter, personally. There's also a pride of lions.

  • Lol it can definitely make you feel 102 by the end of it. Not my favourite part of a holiday, that's for sure. Hope you found something good to binge watch at least.

  • Haha I can believe it. That must've been a hell of a long flight. I'm sure you'll adjust and recuperate soon though.

  • I'm a little late but I hope you have an awesome time there!

  • Yeah I saw someone say that they're a nurse who deals with dementia patients and that people with dementia are basically putty in the hands of anyone with a vibe of kindness or empathy.

  • Yeah I was just coming to say as well, the biggest issue with this is mods.

And in games like Stardew Valley, the other issue is the game seed. If you keep using the same save, a lot of the same 'random' events will occur.

  • To be cliche, probably the Bethesda style character creation, just because you can tweak so much. That's probably the best I've got because my current laptop is a potato and Skyrim is about the most intensive that it can (barely) handle.

A huge issue I have with it though, is that after all that tweaking and fine tuning of your character, you can't save or load templates. So sometimes I'll spend ages creating a character, start the same and play for a bit, then for whatever reason decide to start again an hour later (regrettable choice, a faulty mod etc.), and now I have to create a character all over again. At that point I just choose basics and hit play.

This is an annoyance to me in all games with character creation though. Even something simpler like Stardew Valley, especially if you're trying to get the colours just right.

If you're going to give us the ability to create and fine tune personalized characters, let us save and load them, god damnit.

  • Also what I've found is that different brands can make a difference, even if they've both got the same gimmick eg. for dry hair etc.

Sometimes a particular brand just agrees with you less than another one and it can help trying different ones for the one that works best.

  • I haven't really set up my own home base with pets or kids or whatever, or a career yet, so I would still like to get all of my traveling out of the way first.

Aiming for WFH style work and maybe doing a little bit of a nomad lifestyle for a while. First thing I need to do is save in order to obtain my British citizenship, so that I have more powerful passport than a South African one. Then I'd like to select different places to visit.

Honestly Europe and the US are last on my list. First I want to go everywhere completely different to what I know. Certain select African countries (I'd need to do homework first), South America, Mexico, Asia. Doesn't mean that I won't visit Europe or the US though. Maybe I'll sprinkle it in between.

This is my legitimate plan for the future right now.

  • Not gonna lie, I still kinda wish this place was more chatty and lively. Like just enough so that there's fresh conversation throughout the day. I've got some more memes to post but honestly, I'm a little bored of that.

  • I think it's because everyone expects Germans to know better. And it's pretty sad when it looks like the lesson that was learnt wasn't "subjugation and genocide of a targeted demographic is bad" but instead "criticism of Israel is bad".

People expect it from magas and religious nutters but not from Germans in 2025.

  • Yeah to be completely honest, I would have good intentions but also probably leave this world a burning wreck afterwards. To use the latest movie for an example, I would probably be part Superman and part Hawkgirl. I would be trying to do good but also I'm not an alien trying to get people to accept me and like me, I'm a native that's sick of this shit. So I would also be dropping certain people from high places.

And I definitely wouldn't not interfere with world politics. I've even thought about it. My first move before introducing myself to the world would be to find where all the nukes are, and hit everywhere as quickly as possible and leave them on the moon or something until I figure out what to do with them. Then I would get all of the 'strong' men and nazis and religious despots and traitors of the free world together in front of cameras and make a human centipede out of them without any surgery, and without a mouth or backside so that it's just an ouroborous of its own shit.

Then I would just stick to crime fighting and ruining Lex Luthor's day and shit and keep an eye as people chose new leaders. And if leaders that aren't there to serve the people start taking over again, it's ouroborous of shit time again. Or something worse.

  • I think I figured out the answer. It's the season. The relentlessly hot and windy season has started with a vengeance. And I'm already over it. I want to live somewhere with a proper autumn and a snowy winter and a summer that doesn't make you feel like looking for a cold cave to hide in.

  • I dunno, I think she fits in nicely with the rest of the reality TV stars, news readers and podcasters cosplaying as politicians. What were Trump's actual credentials? Bankrupting casinos and saying "your fired" on the Apprentice?

  • I agree with most of what you say but I think it's both. People are tired of voting and paying taxes when it all seems to just go towards paying rich and connected people bloated salaries to blatantly sleep in parliament in front of cameras. But the wealthy elites harnessed that and took advantage. And infected conspiracy theory circles and started putting so much bullshit out there that 'truth' seems to be optional these days.

I'm showing my tinfoil hat here but in my view this started happening some time after the Arab spring when powerful people shat themselves and realised how powerful social media could actually be.

Trump was totally packaged as a rebel and a renegade coming to change the system. Around 2015 I remember even 'progressive' minded people saying things like "he's a businessman, not one of these useless assholes, he'll get things done!" In South Africa, there was the same rhetoric surrounding Cyril Ramaphosa in the beginning.

I don't want to sound like self aggrandizing asshole here but I think that maybe people in general are even less smart than I thought. Because just before everyone started thinking that capitalist businessmen were going to save them, social media was all about Anonymous and Zeitgeist and how awesome socialism is and how much capitalism sucks. And seemingly overnight, while still looking for the same kind of change, they fell for a slimy capitalist swindler selling that change.

Honestly my sincere hope and probably the main thing keeping me going is that this all collapses under the weight of pedophiles and incompetent podcasters and news readers put into positions of power, and then the pendulum swings back and we get the change that we actually need.
