  • They exist but they're classified as narcotics :)

  • With Lemmy/Piefed being much smaller, I comment a lot more than I would on reddit since I know my voice will likely be heard. Outside of niche subreddits, posting a comment was like yelling into the void. It sort of all came down to how early you made it into a thread on whether anyone would actually see what you said

I think thread/forum-like platforms do a lot better at a small to medium sized community size

  • The US can just go fuck themselves even ignoring this

  • For the time being yeah. I still use Firefox on mobile myself but I do hope they release a mobile version at some point

  • Because of the direct threats. He's threatened Canada before, but this time he pretty directly told us to "watch ourselves or else" which Canadians will absolutely remember.

  • It was definitely historic but not in the way I imagine Vance thinks. Fucker incoherantly babbled for an hour while throwing direct threats towards Canada and of course, Greenland

  • I really like the Zen browser. It's Firefox-based, open source and privacy focused with AI removed but it's also really pretty and is built around vertical tabs

  • I get your point and I find it annoying that US Americans have ended up taking what should have been a more generic demonym for the Americas too but it is generally the accepted term for those living to our immediate south (at least in English-speaking Canada)

  • Are you serious? Even ignoring the fact that doing deals with China is not "pulling our pants down and bending over", the fact is we, as a non-superpower, need to sometimes choose the lesser of two evils and only one of the two countries is repeatedly insulting and threatening our sovereignty. Your reduction of our work on diversifying our economy in the face of (active) economic and (potential) military invasion by the USA is so maddening

    edit: I assume you're American?

  • This is straight up just a threat

  • both.gif

  • I hope it stings as much as the bombs the US has and plans to drop

  • I hate that AI has made it harder to enjoy code reviews. I know it's always been a common thing to have ripped code in a PR but at least it took a tiny bit of skill to adapt it properly to the codebase.

If I see a clever (and maintainable ofc) solution in a PR now I usually just assume it was AI that wrote it. This goes the other way too, if I write some code I'm proud of, I assume my reviewers will just assume it was generated :(

  • Man, while I will always do everything I can to protect my privacy, I'd take Chinese privacy invasions over American privacy invasions any day.

Hell at this point I'd take a Chinese privacy invading product over an American privacy respecting product just out of spite

  • Ah, right I didn't really think about that. I don't think it even needs to be said but damn that's such a propaganda-flavoured twisting of the truth even if it's technically not a lie.

  • It's an amazing config language!

  • Yeah, I'm generally used to American media doing that by now but this headline is just so absurdly dismissive of non-American lives that it's infuriating

  • "Trolls"? Fuck off, seriously. He's going to invade and bomb Greenland and what, are the headlines just going to read "Trump trolls Nuuk citizens"?

Is Trump going to invade and bomb Canada and we'll get to see headlines the next day saying "Epic troll, Trump just flattened Ottawa"? Sorry, I guess "we" as in the rest of the world will see those headlines because I'd be dead

    Fuck
