  • This was my first magazine subscription....followed by the original Sonic the Hedgehog comic and WCW Magazine (pretty sure it was called that, black and white newspaper type print). Sad to see them go, I remember the classified ad area in the back was usually interesting/odd.

I still have 2 magazine subscriptions that are active. I used eBook readers for a few years, but eventually reverted back to physical print for nonspecific reasons.

It's nice having a monthly surprise of sorts delivered in the mail that is not a bill or from Amazon.

  • The Ryan Howard experience, pitcher version.

Guess that means they plan on him being a semi-permanent jersey seller too. Maybe the pitching staff is seeing something else there that could be developed, not so sure myself.

That being said, Griff Mcgarry kinda fell apart as a prospect, IMO. Mick Abel started and lost his first triple A game, which kept the Ironpigs out of the Triple A championship. Andrew Painter is IR/disabled until 2025 as per tommy johns surgery. An love Jose Alvarado, but when he gets spooked/nervous, he starts to lose control and throwing balls.

This is a long winded way of saying, might not be who we want, but who we need.

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • What a sad death of such an iconic service.

Growing up in the 1990s hardcore/punk scene(s), myself and friends took Greyhounds everywhere. As did a lot of homeless punk kids back then. For friends I knew that were being physically and/or sexually abused, Greyhound was their only way out.

    A lot of memories there.

  • That's way too much money. They must have a lot of faith in their current pitching prospects.

  • I opened this thread for Vermin Supreme comments.

    I was not disappointed.

    Thank you Lemmy, thank you.

  • Thanks, you actually accidentally postponed my daily depressive moment in regards to this topic, ha. :)

  • I do want to own a home at some point before death, so I've cut back spending across the board. I wouldn't say I'm financially worse off, just working as many double shifts as possible (I work in healthcare, this is easy to do right now...also not a good thing) and not enjoying life at all for....3 continuous years now.

$115k needs to be your annual salary in USD to buy a home right now, supposedly, I read that somewhere (maybe CNN?) in the past 2 weeks. I make nowhere near that.

Factor in inflation on grocery prices & everything else, an mind you I shop at an Aldi's and a wholesale club, it's not a very easy time out there. Sometimes it feels like I'm saving for something totally unrealistic.

  • Man, what a weird fucking thing to do.

I cannot comprehend wanting to discuss something like this with any outward facing news agency.....unless you are that painfully unaware of both the internet and ridicule.

Talk about having the blinders on for life.

  • I posted on Lemmy about needing recommendations for movies to watch on shrooms....and then minutes later stumble across this article.

    Talk about perfect timing, lol.

This is really starting to feel like a perfect replacement for that...other website.

  • As for beverage (well, soda) sales, everyone's social circle is different, as for mine...usually people grab a water, iced coffee (bottled or poured) or energy drink at a corner, grocery or department store, etc.

I honestly cannot remember the last time someone I knew wanted to stop somewhere for specifically a Pepsi, Coca Cola or any regular soda product.

Even when eating out at a restaurant, if it is not alcohol, it's usually coffee and/or water.

  • I am curious how the involved kid turns out years later, but I feel that answer is already known.

  • The older you get, the more you realize how many incompetent people are in various positions of authority.

  • Meanwhile he continues airstrikes against the Kurds in Northern Syria/Rojava, using the Gaza crisis as a distraction.

  • I'm surprised Phillies fans are not calling the mascot, "Baxter the bit...".....

"There's more than one way to skin a cat"

"You look like Garfield on meth"

"Arizona, where costume designers apparently go to die"

    Etc.

  • Agreed.

  • It is very nice to see Mozilla doing quite useful/helpful projects from time to time.

  • Nervous in the 9th.
