  • Ehhh when you’re an officially neutral nation with immense financial power surrounded by West Germany, France, Austria (also neutral), and Italy. And you’re on good terms and deeply financially intertwined with NATO.

I feel like having people in your population be homeless and die of lack of medical treatment is a bigger priority than inflating the already massive military budget and capability.

  • Exactly.

There are plenty of retraction worthy papers still standing. I think most in academia have come to the realisation that as of the late 2010s and early 2020s the ratio of decent paper to slop has gotten so bad that most bad papers are just ignored, not retracted.

  • Well, that’s sad. But I respect it. Rather see projects popping in and out as people have the motivation and time and passion, than ending up with some soulless corpified thing that has 100% uptime and 0% community ownsership.

The decentralised nature of fedi means this actually works. And, to be honest, I think after feddit.de instances have started having better succession plans in place. Which is great.

  • They were my first instance as well.

  • Is this real? Like do people do this?

  • Yeah cold war logic was paranoid. Nuclear bunkers in essentially every building built during the cold war, highway segements were built with fighter jet landing capabilities. And yeah I believe many bridges have explosive “capabilities”.

  • This is not just because of public education gutting. It’s a worldwide phenomenon, even in places with the highest ranked public schools on earth.

the simple truth is bombarding someone with a certain way of seeing the world makes them more likely to see the world that way. It’s propaganda, plain and simple.

  • The greens are polling at the same number as labour, consistently for the past couple months. Labour is as unpopular as they’ve ever been.

  • Sad thing is it works on a lot of naive young people.

  • The Shitpost Office @lemmy.dbzer0.com

    Oh no... Anyways...

  • Therapy tried to make me learn to live with my oppression.

IMO that can be oppressive in of itself.

(Not all therapy is like this obviously but that was my experience).

  • Yes. That’s the easier solution.

The harder solution is maybe we shouldn’t have 9 people appointed by the most powerful person in the country for life have that much power. It’s not very democratic.

  • So what is it actually?

  • The worst part is this “tradition” came out of a medieval flex by aristocrats.

Look here, I have fertile soil I don’t grow anything on near my manor (aka lawn). That’s how well I’m doing. My peasents are only barely starving.
