lemmyNSFW account; I post to the celeb communities and "asklemmy" communities.

  • Just tried it and it looks crap - I can't imagine how to write "321" clearly in cursive, for instance. I think that's why.

Roman numerals kind of work in cursive (sometimes i to x are written in lowercase, e,g in document indexes) so maybe it's all downstream of our numbers actually originating from arabic calligraphy?

  • Honestly, libraries can be. Big, you can visit whenever, they have weekly events and a community that you can get to know.

EDIT: But that's probably a profoundly obvious answer, sorry haha.

  • It can be handled by both but you need to bear in mind that most barbers are uhhh they just don't understand long hair. Ask them to keep it a medium length they're gonna give you something short. Its' really a question of what risk you're willing to handle.

  • I've always thought dom sounds tricky to agree groundwork with. It might be fun but I doubt i would find someone who's idea of it/taste in domination is exactly the same as mine.

Speaking on the master-servant stuff specifically, it seems tricky because what if one partner wants to do it all the time and the other doesn't? You could just "go back to normal," but I bet having treated your partner like a servant would change the way you see them a little bit.

Since BDSM is related, I'll mention that I don't like a lot of the toys involved in BDSM at all, but bondage seems okay. But I also don't think it's necessary, and I want my partner to be enthusiastic enough about vanilla sex rather than needing to engage in these kinks. Hope that's not considered an ignorant view of kinks.

  • Have heard that the USA is the lowest context culture in the world. Even as a british person, the way americans talk seems so vague.

EDIT: Oh and it came up in a seminar at University.

  • Same, but I think train running (1 man after another) is even better to watch

  • Bingo. That's a good answer

  • Game testing, definitely something AI won't be able to replace - assuming that video games continue to be made for a human audience rather than an AI one. Same applies for all sorts of testing I guess - wine tasting, movie test audiences, art critics

  • Thank you for your thoughtful comment!

I walked in on my uncle watching porn once when I was 5 or 6, and it wasn’t a traumatic experience. I only remember it because of how the adults around me reacted when I said something.

This reminded of the parenting advice that when children hurt themselves (e.g trip over) freaking out about it is training them to freak out at the pain more - the calmer you are about it, the less tears are shed.

Basically this is the same way I feel about nudity - you don't freak out and yell at your kid for accidentally seeing you naked, you instead explain that people appreciate privacy regarding their body, so one should look away when someone is undressed. I presume this is what you mean by 'the way we treat nudity and sex isn't great.'

Ethics aside, there could be legal ramifications

Yes, I actually found out recently that there's a crime called corrupting a minor, which usually means showing them porn or sex acts. I think it would only apply to overheard-sex if the child made the parents aware, asked them to avoid the activity, and yet it continued. I, not being bothered by it, simply never bought it up (pretty sure I was a teenager when i first overheard.)

  • The fact they don’t see anything wrong with this is somewhat disturbing. (...) you’d think they would make a minimum effort to mask it from their children.

They would do it at night, I'm guessing they had no idea how audible it was on the various audible occasions. So I'd say they made effort to mask it - they're certainly not exhbitionists. Other instances I've read about seem far worse.

  • Best stories. for me, all have some sort of romance element. Can be cheesy as hell, doesn't matter, it elevates the story in my opinion.

Character motivations have to make sense.

A movie is also LEGENDARY if it has some sort of unique or interesting cinematography, but it isn't essential for a great movie.. I'm mostly interested in the storyline.

  • The most ardent advocatess of capitalism, as well as its biggest critics, see "true capitalism" as essentially economic anarchism (more commonly known as "Laissez-faire"). In this sense, yes, true capitalism should avoid cronyism because it would be following the Darwinist principle of "the most-qualified for survival in this unmanaged economy deserves the job."

But humans cannot be trusted not to engage in cronyism. With no interventionist/organisational force (the government for instance) partaking in the economy, there is no greater power for people to put their faith in, and thus they don't trust that their friends and family can obtain decent paying work. I would therefore argue that cronyism happens more under true, unchained capitalism.

I mean just look at how business owners behave today, in a world with some restrictions placed upon capitalism. They can't help themselves.

Answering the question: Crony capitalism and true capitalist is a false dichotomy (distinction), but the USA certainly isn't true, laissez-faire, capitalist.

Would TRUE capitalism have any problems?

Capitalism, (needlessly) increases competition for resources, access to markets, and even results in fierce competition over abstract things. This is exacerbated the more unmanaged capitalism becomes, so I think True capitalism would have more problems than whatever we live under now.

Is the best thing a mix of socialism and capitalism?

I think so, yes. I am of the view that capitalism is a relic of the past, a developing species or developing society kind of thing, but communism, if it's the ideal way of structuring society, belongs to the future. A more automated and technologically advanced future.

  • 100 is usually used to say "based" / i agree with this. As in "100%"

  • Don't know if i would describe it as a friendship, but squirells are one of the easiest creatures to form a (one-sided) business relationship with because of their ravenous hunger.

Step 1; have cat flap/dog flap Step 2: leave nuts in cat flap for That's it. They will straight up queue outside your back door for free samples. Optional Step: Place nuts in garden or in cat flap when you think squirells are around, watching. This means they'll more quickly associate you with the food.

    Also Crows. Absolutely amazing creatures.

  • I have never ever heard of it so I think it might be a scam. As far as ethical porn studios go, I have heard of Ersties and Hegre however, and they look pretty swell.

Ask yourself, though, if this is a good financial decision full-stop/period. One of the reasons you might only be getting snippets of porn is if you're using sites like reddit to browse for it (idk why the hell reddit is like that, lol, but I'm not interested in the porn scene anymore so I'll never know). If you go on pornhub or xvideos - maybe use a seperate, vpn browser - I'm fairly certain you encounter full length amateur videos, even full length studio videos, on those sites.

For me, paying for porn was a line I didn't particularly want to cross, as I didn't trust myself to not get addicted and waste loads of money on it.

Also would recommend NSFW voice acted stories, which you can find on r/GoneWildAudio and from VA's bluesky or X accounts. This way you can get a lot of full-length, fascinating stories, for no cost whatsoever.

  • those are not the kind of beaches you see on porn videos. Not full of hot women and men fucking around.

Yeah i always say the first thing people need to know about nudism is that the #1 practitioners of it are wrinkly old people 🤣. If you can look past that, then you're an actual nudist and not just an exhibitionist.

if I barely know them I feel some shame. I know it’s stupid but that’s how I feel. I can’t explain it

Not stupid at all - it's a question of safety/feeling safe, both for you and for the other person. You never know how they'll react.

Once my GF in high school had a classmate tag along when we were out in the woods together, and I think seeing me strip down for skinny dipping unprompted made her uncomfortable - probably the last time I will ever be so careless in who I'm nude around.

  • Because we like feeling like we use all of our letters equally. If ABC is used for lists we use XYZ for unknown variables

  • it kind of bothers me thst it's called america in shorthand
