  • Your surface area doesn't decrease from you having a higher speed. In fact, because humans are quite vertical objects, moving them fast along the horizontal axis means they actually have a somewhat higher chance of crossing paths with something dropping vertically.

This is the same for rain, by the way. But since moving at a higher speed typically means you get to your destination sooner and spend less time outside of a house, it's still generally a good idea to go fast.

  • I believe, the problem is mainly white bread, which is what people typically have in mind for feeding ducks.

As opposed to wholegrain, it only retains the endosperm, which is mostly just carbohydrates without many nutrients:

I think, the lack of fiber is also particularly problematic. At least, I've heard that it gives them diarrhea, which probably means their guts don't have time to extract the few remaining nutrients.

  • Yeah, and for consumer software, the companies developing the software don't have to pay for the RAM, so unless it becomes a widespread reason to switch away from their software, they do not have to care at all.

  • So, technically last Sunday, probably.

  • Wow, ordered an external SSD from them two weeks ago and it couldn't be delivered, because none were in stock anymore. Guess I'll order a different brand...

  • If you're just expressing your strong need to disaffiliate with whatever is happening in that picture, you're fine. But yeah, the community is about those cases where people forcing themselves into monogamous, life-long relationships goes wrong.

And unfortunately, this is so common, that you can buy """humorous""" products like in the post, and that the community name just summarizes it as "the straights"...

    So ungefähr:

    Gezeichnet, Ihr Hans Unterschrift𝔘𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔰𝔠𝔥𝔯𝔦𝔣𝔱

    🙃

  • To my knowledge (as someone from former West Germany), East Germany was ahead with incorporating women into the job market. Presumably, that is still the case. So, it could be that the friendships came to be from working together as colleagues...

  • Spidey does appear to be pregnant in panel 4, so...

  • No idea, but I have not yet heard of a computer science department going exclusively for Apple...

  • Probably varies a lot between countries and universities. In my university, you were better off, if you were on Linux. But I've heard horror stories from the US before, where Windows was mandatory...

  • Yeah, the headline makes it sound like he's insulting AI, but he's just illustrating a fairly basic fact...

  • It shows up as "Terminal" in the search results, so I imagine that's what it matches against, even if it is colloquially referred to as "Windows Terminal"...

  • On KDE, it's just one of the suggestions, I believe, that you could search this term on the web. If you trigger that suggestion, it then opens the web browser to do the search.

As such, searching "terminal" wouldn't yield a suggestion from a web result that matches, but I'm pretty sure applications are prioritized above other results either way.

  • Yeah, even just the assumption that amazon.com/code should automatically parse as a URL for everyone – without even dropping the word "website" – is a bit brave. It could be read as amazon.com / code or even as amazon. com/code.

I also feel like not everyone is going to know what a "code" really is, especially if they're a non-native speaker, like this person presumably is. And there isn't even a colon to make it clear that the blue text is the code.I could definitely see this being interpreted as an error description, because error displays also generally have such weird letters or numbers on them (a.k.a. an error code).

Well, and if I'm already nitpicking, the title is confusing, too. Start listening to what? Or even for what? Is the watch just telling you "pay attention"?The title is also not really visually distinct from the body text, so it looks like a run-on sentence when it's two sentences. They could've totally just made that one sentence and resolved both of those problems: "To start listening, enter the following code..."

It may be a simple process, but if your communication of this process isn't watertight, then you don't need a fool for it to be misunderstood.
