  • Doctors that are likely to flee to Canada are very likely Doctors who care more about helping people than making money. This isn't the issue you should worry about in this context.

    1. The demographics of people who live within a few miles of golf courses. Are they wealthier with better Healthcare, allowing them to live long enough to develop Alzheimer's?
    2. Were pesticides used heavily in the golf courses surveyed?

    As with all statistics, more data = context.

  • I would go back and tell myself not to sacrifice certain things just to be high for the day. Don't change the positive things in your life. You should always know you control a substance, don't allow the drug to let you think you're in control. When you start to think you have do something high that you wouldn't if you were sober (e.g. hanging out with friends, spending the day with family, watching a movie, etc,) then that's when you're in very dangerous territory.

  • No. As with all things in life, there's nuance. Your body is different than mine. While I don't have an inherently addictive physiology, I quickly went from practicing moderation to using everyday, to quite literally never being truly sober. And I stopped myself a few times in the beginning - I knew I was slipping, and I held myself accountable and would be better for a time. Until eventually I forgot or was too apathetic, I can't remember honestly

    A long time ago, I went through this. The details don't matter so much because our situations aren't the same. But I fell deep into addiction for a few years because I was dealing with several issues - some of which I've always dealt with and will continue to do so, others were temporary.

    I still have to face the problems I did before, but now I have the occasional craving. Before, I would lie in bed or sleep if I was going through a depressive episode for a few weeks / months. Now, I want to burn my savings until I black out or can't remember why I started. Now, I get cravings if I use any kind of nasal spray. Now, I will dream of being high and will have cravings for the rest of the week.

    If you can't change what you're going through, and you know you'll be dealing with it in the future, then why would you add more problems for your future self? The drugs I did were amazing until I came down, and they changed me. Some of the changes made me a better person due to the struggles and inconsistent clarity they presented, but some of the changes just made my suffering worse. Drugs will give you relief while you're high. But all things come to an end, be it the high or your life. Practice safety, use testers, and research everything.

    San Francisco is not a luxury brand, it's a fucking city. Because there are more opportunities there, COL is much higher. There are a thousand variables that impact it, but a city is a city, regardless, and everyone deserves to have the opportunity to live decently without fear of homelessness. We're better than that.

  • Op, this is it. The franchise has been around for decades and covers many historical eras. Recently they got into fantasy and did well with it, though personally I prefer the historical titles with the dynamic dueling.

    Like Dr_Nik said, battles are either RTS style that you can choose to control, let ai take over and observe the battle instead, or you can autoresolve and skip a battle entirely. The overall gameplay is similar across each game, but the mechanics and ai behavior vary wildly across titles. If you don't like one game, pick up another and you'll probably love it

  • Yeah, it makes it more difficult as your tolerance gets higher. Using a strain with high CBD / CBN as opposed to high THC will help tremendously.

  • I've had insomnia since I was teenager, and have used cannabis for that and some other medical issues since then. My health impacts my sleep, which obviously makes my insomnia worse. Cannabis helps with sleeping until your tolerance is high, so my tip for making it work is to swap types of cannabis each time you buy - not just changing strains. So if you buy indica one time, buy an indica-dominant strain the next time. Obviously the terps will give you a better idea, but that's an easy place to begin.

    Unfortunately, I can't stop taking cannabis until I'm fixed. So my tolerance is high and will stay high for the foreseeable future. But even if you've done all of the above and still can't get to sleep, try meditating after smoking. Not in the traditional sense, but in the sense that as you try to fall asleep, take big deep breaths and force individual muscle groups to relax. As you take a few breaths, force your neck and head to relax, then your shoulders and chest, etc. Focus on just that, and it will help somewhat. If that doesn't work, I'm truly sorry. I have those nights every now and then, so I understand how debilitating it can be.

  • I help manage a fleet of Rivian vans for work. As amazing as they are, the subfreezing temps can make it really difficult to have an electric fleet. It's worth it, but so many issues come up because of the slow charging in winter. I'm hopeful this type of engineering can be scaled and successful, because that's one of the only issues I have with electric vehicles.

  • If you think being altruistic has to be worth something to do it, then you're not an altruistic type of person. Being altruistic means doing what one believes is right and helping others regardless of any reward or value gained or lost.
