  • The finding is that some metals become harder while still heated against very fast deformations.

At everyday speeds, metals deform — meaning they bend, stretch or dent — in ways that scientists understand well. Heat helps atoms move, making metals softer and easier to shape. But when deformation happens extremely fast — in millionths or billionths of a second — those same rules no longer apply.

  • I made it even better :3

  • A dental formula specifies the number of teeth of each type on each side of the jaw for a given species, with dots separating the numbers. There are two rows, representing the upper and lower jaw, separated by a horizontal line. The number of incisors is indicated first, canines second, premolars third, and finally molars

  • Hard to determine the direction the cellular simulation is going, but I'm assuming it's top to bottom.

That would make the rules (assuming light is alive)

    • One neighbor alive above or above-right, you live

    • All three neighbors above you are the same, you live

    • Otherwise you die (two live neighbors above or one live neighbor above-left)

Generate a random row at the top, then determine the fate of cells on your at a time.

    EDIT:

The only flaw I see in my logic so far is that the left most column would not be the same. Would only work if you had a hidden column on the left.

  • Exactly. That's why I always advocate for people to aim for being near a healthy weight. If you're a tad overweight or a tad underweight, that's so much better than being grossly over or under. Being healthier doesn't mean you have to be perfect, just better than you were.

  • Technically and legally, that is not wage theft. It's scummy and should be stopped, but it's not wage theft.

  • They also found that the average SMR was 124 million years old.

Yeah, recent in terms of these sort of features happening, but in no way recent to any humanly conceivable time-frame.

  • My opinion on the most random number:

The smallest number that has never and will never exist in the universe.

The moment a number is written out, calculated in a computer, or counts the atoms in the universe, it's no longer random. It has some reason to exist.

Contrarily, just picking some massive number with a bajillion digits isn't really random. It's just a big number.

Thus the most random number would be the smallest number the universe will never know. It's going to be incomprehensibly large, near infinity. Plus, you'll have to wait until well beyond the heat death of the universe for the point that the entropy of everything equals zero.

  • I feel ya on that one. I was getting pissed off at the server notifications sometime last year, so I knew where to look.

  • Here's an actual answer to disable them on Android (not sure if it's different on iPhone):

The bottom one disables status notifications. The top one gives notifications if there's a burst of activity on a server you're in.

  • When you UV unwrap your pigeon 3D model lol

  • I would take one for free!

Then immediately disassemble it for the batteries and motors lol.

  • I like that concept for AI in games. You gotta balance and implement it correctly, but It really does offer an interesting new angle for games.

That vampire game "Suck Up!" was a pretty cool attempt at the idea.

  • Yeah lol.

Cueball, beret guy, white and black hat, ponytail, Megan are a few I can remember

  • Def a more niche reference I feel:

This is a reference to the William Carlos Williams poem This Is Just to Say, in which the narrator is apologizing for eating the plums in the icebox. In this comic, the joke is that Cueball, learning that the person out of view has left themselves some plums in the refrigerator for tomorrow, cannot resist eating them as a reference to the poem.

    Always Worthy

  • Yeah. I threw it in the rice cooker while I was getting ready for class.

  • My quick and dirty attempt for a last minute lunch:

Not too bad for barely ever making fried rice. Some chicken, onions and peppers, soy and worcestershire sauces. Then butter, msg, garlic, salt, and a pinch of curry powder.

  • Same....

    We're both so screwed....

  • What seasonings?
