Follows Elvira as she battles against her gorgeous stepsister in a realm where beauty reigns supreme. She resorts to extreme measures to captivate the prince, amidst a ruthless competition for physical perfection.
Apologies if this is not the community for a thread like this, I don't frequent this community as much as I should (considering the volume of movies I watch lol). But I just saw The Ugly Stepsister in theaters and I'm dying to talk about it.
I'm curious if any of you have seen it yet. It's still in theaters and looks like it's going to be fairly niche, I'm sure in no small part due to it being foreign. I definitely recommend it, I found it to be a fun spin on the classic Cinderella story that we get from the likes of Disney and a lot more faithful to the source.
Definitely not for those who are squeamish, but to be honest I found the

The Mercy of Gods
As a lover of The Expanse, I recently picked up The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey and ended up binging it in a day while waiting for work. Spoilers ahead.
The book is set on a world inhabited by two competing forms of life: carbon-based organisms introduced by humans around 4,000 years ago, and the native crystalline lifeforms. Just as a team of scientists makes a genetic breakthrough—enabling these very different life forms to coexist—they detect a gravity anomaly that functions as an “Outside Context Problem.”
Now, as a newly subjugated species, the scientists must prove to their new overlords that humanity still has something to offer to the vast, interconnected web of civilizations that make up the alien polity.
As a soft science fiction space opera, I really enjoyed the book. The Carryx, with their striking orange-and-blue morality, are fascinating, and humanity’s attempts to "humanize" them predictably fall flat. I do wish it had been longer—the 400 pages flew by—and the “
OP hates Boromir's scene in Fellowship of the Ring

I so fucking hated that scene
So there are the new and improved orcs, they're invincible! They're like 3 meters tall and 200 kilograms of pure muscle awesome, they are invincible!
Cue the guy who kills like 10 of these orcs as if he's chipping vegetables, then he gets an arrow in the chest... And mind you, this is not an arrow that was cleared by the OIC for use at the Olympics, this is a small tree that blasts through his ribs. Oh noes! And he choos down like 4 more orcs and gets a second arrow in the chest... And proceeds to choose down a few more orcs and at this point there must be a pile of dead invincible orcs around him but he continues and get yet another arrow in the chest! Oh noes! Anyway, so he chops down another orc and then finally dies.
I may have gotten a few details wrong , it's been a while since I saw the scene but boy oh boy did it piss me off. This fucking invincible orcs army was worth less than a promise from El

Arkham Horror LCG: Boundary Beyond help
SPOILERS AHEAD SO READ NO FURTHER IF IT MATTERS FOR YOU . . . . . .
So we've played through the Dunwich, and Path to Carcosa campaigns and had a grand time all the way through them. Then we started on the third campaign The Forgotten Age.
Things were definitely trickier with the new explore mechanic but manageable for the first two scenarios. We definitely felt a large step up in difficulty.
Then we got the Boundary Beyond and just got like totally smashed with almost no headway towards finishing the second act. Like we retried it twice but the results were nearly the same we got one maybe 2.5 locations cleared out before our situation became obviously hopeless.
The costs to explore each location are just so punishing and leaves you with no gas to handle the mythos that ultimately ushers us to our doom.
It's really soured our group on the game in general and I'm not sure they'll want to continue at this point. Is there something we're doing wrong?
