This plant should not be thriving in this environment. It is growing on compacted oxisol in an area that gets over 4 metres of rain. Yet here it is, growing completely out of control. Nothing makes sense. Climate change?
This plant dies from overwatering if it's a houseplant, but otherwise is damn near impossible to kill. Even if its roots in the ground have died, it can just live on getting what it needs from the air. And with that much rain it's sure to get enough lol
I'm not so surprised that it's alive; I'm more surprised that it's so big and fruiting so well!
