Bulletins and News Discussion from June 9th to June 15th, 2025 - Iran-Israel War Begins

Image is Israeli interceptors trying and failing to intercept missiles over their cities.

Israel just carried out a widespread bombing of Iran, which has killed a number of senior officials inside Iran (though it seems the leadership is more-or-less intact) as well as a number of civilians. Important facilities have been targeted, but the amount of damage is unknown so far (note that many important Iranian facilities are deep underground, making them both hard to damage but also hard to determine if they are damaged from just satellite imagery, so reports of damage will be he-said-she-said).

It appears the attack took Iran by surprise, given that a residential block was targeted that contained some senior officials - if one saw an attack coming, one would imagine they'd be in bunkers. Nonetheless, like the rest of the Resistance Axis, I suspect that Iran has adapted their military structures to be resistant to decapitation strikes by ensuring that replacement figures are ready to take the place of killed officials.

Iran has delivered a massive missile barrage in response to Israeli aggression, even though Israel is continuing to bomb Iran. Iran is now aware of the location of many important Israeli sites, including secret nuclear sites, due to their recent intelligence haul, giving them a distinct edge.

  • IAEA an 'instrument for Israel [sic],' secret documents seized by Iran reveal | The Cradle

The thousands of sensitive documents on Israel’s nuclear program, which Tehran said its intelligence managed to obtain, reveal direct cooperation between Tel Aviv [sic] and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Iran, according to an Iranian media report.

“These documents clearly show that instead of playing a neutral role, the IAEA has become an instrument serving the objectives of the Zionist regime,” Fars news agency cited an informed source as saying on 10 June.

The documents prove that “Iran’s official and confidential letters to the IAEA – containing sensitive information – were channeled to the espionage agencies of the Zionist regime through covert conduits,” the report added.

The report also notes that several top Iranian nuclear scientists ended up getting assassinated due to their names being disclosed by the IAEA.

I swear that this has already been known about for years now and is not new information. But I could be wrong obviously.

Yes, this was already known since at least November 2020, when Fakhrizadeh was assaninated

Physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was slain in an attack on a highway outside of Tehran, according to Iranian news reports, which blamed Israel. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) documents show Fakhrizadeh headed the AMAD program, a secret nuclear weapons effort that Iranian officials shuttered at the end of 2003. Documents Israeli agents spirited out of Iran in 2018 suggest some clandestine weapons work continued under Fakhrizadeh in a Revolutionary Guard research unit established in 2011.

Here's what the IAEA report, published in December 2015, almost five years before Mohsen Fakhrizadeh's assassination, said:

Information available to the Agency prior to November 2011 indicated that Iran had arranged, via a number of different and evolving management structures, for activities to be undertaken in support of a possible military dimension to its nuclear programme. According to this information, the organisational structures covered most of the areas of activity relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. The information indicated that activities commenced in the late 1980s within Departments of the Physics Research Centre (PHRC) and later, under the leadership of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, became focused in the early 2000s within projects in the AMAD Plan, allegedly managed through the ‘Orchid Office’. Information indicated that activities under the AMAD Plan were brought to a halt in late 2003 and that the work was fully recorded, equipment and work places were either cleaned or disposed of so that there would be little to identify the sensitive nature of the work that had been undertaken. Eventually, according to the information, a new organization known as the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research was established by Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and based at the Mojdeh Site near Malek Ashtar University in Tehran.

As for the Iranian hack/theft of data from Israel, it seems to be related to a hack on the Soreq Nuclear Research Center that took place late last year. I've seen nothing to indicate that this is related to information on Dimona. Soreq is inspected by the IAEA, Dimona is not, and Dimona is the key site for Israel's nuclear weapons programme.
