Maryland General Assembly passes emergency bills to ban ICE program
On Feb. 3, 2025, Maryland lawmakers passed bills in both chambers to ban 287(g) agreements between ICE and local police agencies regarding detainers.
The bills aim to end ICE 287(g) agreements in Maryland, which at least eight counties have, including Washington County. The measure passed 99 to 40 in the House of Delegates and by 32-12 in the Senate.
