ℹ️ Hotfix release This hotfix release fixes the "Content not available" error that prevents YouTube videos from being played: #13082. It also fixes a few regressions that slipped through with 0.28.......
The update is out and it works as good as new!

EDIT: Updates to the default F-Droid repository take some time. For immediate updates:
- Download and install the APK from the GitHub release link: https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/releases/tag/v0.28.2
- (Preferred) You can add the NewPipe F-Droid repository to your F-Droid client. They immediately post updates to their own repo before it makes it to the default repo.
