Attempt 2 at Lemmy 0.19.11 upgrade! (April 12, 13:00 BST)
Welcome to lemmy.zip status page for real-time and historical data on system performance.
Hello all,
Attempt two to update to Lemmy 0.19.11 is now planned in for tomorrow, April 12th at 13:00 BST (that's 12:00 UTC!)
Following feedback from the downtime thread, information can be found on the upgrade in these places:
Scheduled Maintenance Wednesday 9th April 18:00 UTC (19:00 BST, 14:00 EDT)
Probably a two hour window to give me time to get things done. There may be an upgrade to lemmy 0.19.11 however that requires some modification of ZippyBot due to changes in the new version.
There will be downtime while the server is restarted, however hopefully this is brief.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Important: Temporary Image Downtime Part 2
Hi All,
Needing to do some image migration, so for a short while images will be offline. Cloudflare might cache a few for a bit, but new posts won't have them.
Quite rare these days I need to do this level of maintenance but hopefully once complete, the site will be a bit speedier and we'll be in a better position long term.
There's currently about 400gb of images so this work should help alleviate some pressure on the system.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Edit: Quick calc says this could take over 8 hours :(
Edit 2: 6 hours later it's 41% done, so my maths is way out. There's like 10 more hours to go? Sigh.
Scheduled Maintenance Thursday 20th Feb 18:00 UTC (completed)
I just can't believe it. How is it time to turn everything off and back on again already?
Anyway, at 18:00(ish, give me a break) UTC tomorrow (or today if you're reading this tomorrow) I'll be doing just that.
There will be downtime because everything will be off. I expect no longer than 5 minutes downtime, but then if I get transported to an alternate dimension and have to wage war against an alien invasion to get home, things might take a smidge longer.
There will be backups, there will be docker pulls. There might even be space lasers.

Lemmy.zip updated to 0.19.9
Hi All,
Latest Lemmy update has been applied.
You can get more info in what has changed in this post.
Let me know if you notice any issues!
Thanks
Demigodrick
Scheduled Maintenance Wednesday 22nd Jan 18:00 UTC (done!)
Time to press update, cross fingers, and hope for the best.
Will most certainly include me turning everything off and back on (I'll try to remember to turn it back on this time) - expect brief downtime!
Scheduled Maintenance Wednesday 8th January 14:00 UTC (done!)
Hi All,
Time to turn everything off and back on again.
Maybe some updates too, if the server has been a good little server.
There will likely be interruptions during this time, for up to around 20 minutes. As always, you can check status.lemmy.zip for the info.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Edit - all went smooth
Scheduled Maintenance Monday 16th December 10:00 UTC (done!)
Regular maintenance, during which there will be a server restart for a couple of minutes.
As always, you can check the server status if you can't connect to the site at status.lemmy.zip.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Potential Site Downtime (02:30 UTC)
Hi All,
Just a heads up that Hetzner (our server host) are performing maintenance that may affect access to the site.
More info is on their notice here: https://status.hetzner.com/incident/29972ed7-abac-4fa1-b4b5-26dd7efb356e
Hopefully downtime will be minimal (and I will be asleep during it!) but once they're done, the site should be accessible again.
As always you can check status.lemmy.zip (which isn't hosted on Hetzner!) to see more information on the site's status.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Lemmy.zip Updated to 0.19.6
Hi All,
Lemmy.zip has been updated to Lemmy version 0.19.6.
For a reminder of what's new, check out this blog post from the devs: https://join-lemmy.org/news/2024-11-08_-_Lemmy_Release_v0.19.6
The upgrade was rather smooth thankfully, other than a brief 5 minutes where the site wouldn't come back up and I almost died from stress. Thankfully I had to change one thing and it all worked again.
Please let me know if you encounter any weirdness, unexpected error messages, or if someone crawls out of your screen and tries to eat you.
Some messing with configs will continue to take place over the next few hours to check everything is running smooth, so I apologise in advance if the site accidentally topples over for a second or two.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Scheduled Maintenance Sunday 10th November 12:00 UTC (completed)
Hey all,
With the release of Lemmy 0.19.6 (https://join-lemmy.org/news/2024-11-08_-_Lemmy_Release_v0.19.6) there is potentially a maintenance window on Sunday so I can apply the latest update.
I say potentially, as if there are any reports of issues then I'll hold off, otherwise the window will be for 3 hours (until 15:00 UTC) to allow for any unexpected issues. If there are no issues, then I expect the window to last an hour.
There will definitely be downtime of around 30mins as the update is applied.
As always, you can keep an eye on the progress of the update by visiting status.lemmy.zip or joining the matrix chat where I'll post updates.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Update: many instances reporting updates went fine, so I'll go ahead with this.
Scheduled Maintenance Friday 18th October 13:00 UTC (completed)
Time for a quick bit of maintenance, including a server reboot. During the reboot, you may not be able to connect to Lemmy.zip, which shouldn't last for more than a couple of minutes.
If there are any surprises and the maintenance needs to be extended, I'll update status.lemmy.zip and the matrix chat.
Scheduled Maintenance Thursday 22nd August 18:00 UTC (completed)
Hi all,
Time for a bit of maintenance on the server. Including updating the front-ends to their latest versions.
There will be a reboot or two, but downtime should be minimal. If any issues do crop up that affect the operation of the site, you can see the detail at status.lemmy.zip.
Thanks
Demigodrick
Edit: had to delay a little bit because of unexpected work commitments 🙄
Scheduled Maintenance Friday 19th July 10:00 UTC (Completed)
Hey all,
Time for a bit of maintenance to the site, including updating all the frontends to their latest versions. There may be a small bit of downtime when the server is restarted, but shouldn't take too long.
Cheers,
Demigodrick

Scheduled Maintenance Saturday 8th June 10:00 UTC (completed!)
With the release of Lemmy version 0.19.4 we'll look to upgrade ASAP (unless any issues pop up between now and then).
There is a DB upgrade so definitely going to be significant downtime during this window.
Please keep an eye on status.lemmy.zip during this time.
Scheduled Maintenance Wednesday 29th May 11am UTC * COMPLETED *
After much unexpected delay, the updates to the server have been completed. Apologies for the downtime!
Important edit: This is still ongoing, so the window is extended to 13:30 UTC. Sorry for the downtime. Please expect more downtime.
Time to update the server again. While I don't expect loads of downtime, there will be a 1 hour window where things might be offline. Please keep an eye on status.lemmy.zip if you're likely to be browsing the site during this time.
Scheduled Maintenance Sunday 28th April 12:00 UTC (complete)
Some updates to the server to be applied, and may involve a quick server restart so you may lose to connection to the site if browsing during this time.
